Wouldn't mind seeing Uzak on Blu-ray - that was a good film. Though all the snow in the film may lend itself to some very hot whites on a HDTV!

Let's hope some of Yilmaz Güney's films make it to Blu-ray. And specifically Yol.

Valley of the Wolves German BD under the title Tal der Wolfe is a upconverted beta-cam master as well

it was released with VanDamme's Wake of Death, got'em both. Both suck big time on PQ.

there is a new Turkish movie release

Yahşi Batı - Mild West

I can't find much information about the technical specs of the movie other than it has Turkish 5.1 with English, German, French subtitles. The distribution studio is Tiglon. This is the second Turkish film they released on Blu-ray. The other one is Breath(Nefes) 1080i50hz with Turkish DTS HD MA 7.1 with English, German, French subs, region free. I believe one can expect the same from this release.

I own the 2-disc DVD edition(came out a few months ago) I enjoyed it very much. It's a Turkish western comedy film about 2 Ottoman officers one from treasury and the other from secret police dept traveling to the US in late 1881 to give the US president a gift (a priceless diamond from Seraglio) on behalf of the Ottoman emperor. On route to Washington D.C they get robbed by bandits then indians. Now they have to work and earn living and also recover the diamond to present it to the US president otherwise the rules in Ottoman empire is clear; the one who screw up on a duty to the state loses his head On course or recovering the diamond, they invent coca cola, kentucy fried chicken, they introduce Ottoman candy and Ottoman theater play to Americans and also meet Jack Daniels and Johnny Walker oh almost forgot to mention they also introduce the Ottoman tradition " Oil Wrestling"

I am going to order this release from ebay. I will confirm the specs when I have it.

for those who doesnt have anyone in Turkey, the shipping cost from those Turkish websites makes it more expensive than ebay hepsiburada.com and idefix charges around 20usd for shipping. If you knew someone in Turkey who could ship it to the US or EU for you the regular postage is like 1-3usd 5-12days.

by the way Tiglon Turkey has Grey's anatomy season 5 on bluray but its really expensive(100-120usd) Its English DTS HD-MA 5.1 with english and turkish subs in 1080p. The cover case is similar to the French release but in English. There are couple of other Turkish exclusives. Someone reside in Turkey can make up a list?

Thanks for the helpful post. I actually considered buying a few Turkish BD from places like Hepsi, Idefix, but I figured Ebay would be cheaper considering the reasonable prices for shipping. Ended up ordering Three Monkeys which is probably my favourite Ceylan film. I would love to see his older films get a release on Blu-ray sometime. I might pick up NEFES next, even though the reports on the quality of the transfer aren't great, as I really enjoyed that film. Does anyone know what extras NEFEs has, and if they are subbed?

I really enjoy Turkish cinema and I wonder if you knew any upcoming titles which have been confirmed? Would be great to see Semih Kaplanoglu's Bal get a BD release, as well as Erdem's latest, do you know the chances for that? Both directors who are very strong visually and would benefit so much from Blu-ray.

Anyway, it is exciting for the future of Turkish cinema when you have director's like Ceylan, Erdem, Kaplanoglu, Alper, etc, all active.
