"Gone With The Wind".
My god. 4 hours of boring drama from the south, during the american civil war with a protagonist I just couldn´t stand.

But I gotta admit, it´s really satisfying when Clark Gable says that line in the movie.
Frankly, I did´nt give a damn myself.
I'm with you on that one. No doubt it is the ground-breaking, cinematic epic that everyone claims, but I just couldn't get into it. What made it even worse is that it was my (at the time) girlfriend's favorite movie, and she modeled her personality after Scarlett O'Hara.

Sorry squid, I should have been more clear. I think overall it's better than Braveheart and Gladiator. I like Braveheart more and it could really go either way. I think Gladiator is a step down, albeit not significantly.

Braveheart didn't really work for me. Gladiator I quite enjoy, but Titanic beats it out for my tastes. It was a victim of the predictable backlash that always accompanies hugely successful films but I think it's a terrific piece of filmmaking.

OK. Understand now, but mildly disagree.

Get over to the movie club thread and discuss North by Northwest.

This is an interesting thread.

For me a recent movie that I rented, due to the overwelming hype was "District 9". I didn't like this movie at all, and was pretty much a waste of my time. God.. terrible.

Me too. The audio and visuals were K I L L I N G me the entire time. But I just could NOT turn it off.

I felt violated and abused afterwards.

Highly recommended.

Include me in this also, though I would say that Braveheart is just good, not great. (gasp) I never understood the love for it. I watched it when it premiered on HBO and though it was ok...no big deal. Then when it came out on DVD I bought it thinking that my view would change. Boy was I wrong. I find the battles pretty boring and the rest not very interesting at all(and I have a big LOVE for European history), so I just gave the DVD away to someone at work. I would love to see a PROPER reboot done on this where they can add some CGI to the battles to give those scenes the proper depth that they deserve and most of all...make it more historically accurate because of all the liberties that they took in its telling of this great story.

Now with Gladiator I find it a pretty average film with some great CGI in it and a couple of great battles but I find the characters very unexceptional, specially the movies villain(I really would like to have seen someone else in that role). I still do not understand how this won best picture though I like it just enough to buy the Blu whenever they get its PQ straitened out.

Just my opinion.

Inglourious Basterds.

It's by far Tarantino's worst film, (OK, maybe not... I never saw 'Deathproof', so that one might be worse): it has a thin and implausible story, all of its halfway-decent scenes and sets are lifted straight from other movies, the dialogue ranges from anachronistic to incongruous to pointless, (really, Quentin, it's not exactly knee-slapping humor to have all your characters say "Bingo!" in all of your movies... it was never funny, and now it's just old). I really like some of his movies, but I think this one totally missed. I'm puzzled by the popularity and critical acclaim for it.

What does Chris Bridges have to do with 'Halloween'? Did you mean ludicrous?

Yep, James Cameron has just "conned" hundreds of millions of people into believing they had a great time watching a very entertaining movie, which you haven't seen, but can still authoritatively say it is "god awful". I wish I had that superpower, to be able to know exactly how good or bad a movie is without even seeing it.

I'd say to watch Death Proof, I'd call that one Quentin's worst by far.
