Sherlock Holmes - 1.78:1 (although the specs on the back cover incorrectly state 1.85:1)

I'm excited to hear this. I'm personally not a fan of widescreen formats, so I'm glad WB is putting Sherlock Holmes in this format.

Halo Legends is 1:78:1, and is awesome. Sorry I haven't contributed in a while, been a bit out of the loop, and it's about to get worse. Toy Story/Toy Story 1 and 2 are going to be 1:85:1, and TPATF is 1:78:1 if that hasn't been added yet.....

1.78:1 is a widescreen format.

Given the movie was shot with an intended aspect ratio of 1.85:1, the removal of the minute matte bars neither helps nor hurts the shot composition. I just mentioned the fact that it's really 1.78:1 because reporting it as otherwise is an all too common goof that irks my OCD.

Yeah, its not necessary to have 2.4:1 TVs. then we're just gonna get people complaning about how their "taller" ratio movies don't fill the screen.

No matter what size the TV, people will always find SOME way to complain.

Thgere not putting it in this format, that's how it was shot.

We can add Avatar and The Invention of Lying to the list if no one has mentioned it yet.

Have you seen a 2.4:1 tv in person, they are absolutly spectacular to watch and you'd wonder why someone would go wth a 16:9 tv if they mainly watch movies after sieng one.

If i had the money i would have both types of tv on hand lol. The idea of 2.4:1 tv's make me shudder though... not for MY use, but for the fact i know everyone and their brother will set their tvs to FILL the screen despite the OAR. It already kills me just how often i have to bite my toungue at almost every house i go to, not to mention bars. How people do not notice the image is streeeeetched is beyond me, i would hate to see this effect on a 2.4:1 screen, i think i would have to slap someone.
