Hats off the the director and continuity people for keeping all those details properly sorted while telling a twisted and complex story.

Melissa George did a fantastic job. I cant imagine reading that script and not feeling overwhelmed knowing what would be expected of you.

I wouldnt call this a "horror" movie in the traditional sense at all. Like The Shining, its more of a psycho/suspense/thriller.

If you enjoy having you mind overworked and abused, being stressed and frightened, I highly recommend this.

Honestly, I was so lost in the insane web, I cant give you a PQ AQ rating.
Agreed, I was drawn in as well. Like you, I didn't take much notice of the AQ but I found the PQ to be really good, lots of creepy noises and ambient sounds.

I just re-read Dustins review. He's got it down right. I can only imagine that as fantastic as it was the first time, a second viewing will be better. No monsters, no real gore, just a solid thrashing of your brain....IF you can keep up.

Pay attention!!!!

For real?!? I thought it was pretty bad. The acting is atrocious. Sure Melissa George did pretty good, but she couldn't carry the rest of the awful cast.

The Aviator 3.5/5
A good movie, but certainly not Marty's best. Acting by both DiCaprio and Blanchett is stellar.
PQ also excellent, but wierd color palettes...

Flame and Citron (dvd)

Film: 3 stars (out of 4)

Proof that despite the numerous World War II films that come out every year, there are still interesting and important stories to tell. This is such a story. The two leads are polar opposite characters but are played equally as well. The actor, whose name escapes me, who plays Citron does a particularly good job of displaying his internal conflict.

However, the film is merely good--it's not great. The film felt uneven at times and the pacing was a bit off. I also thought the direction was very mediocre, with unnecessary quick zooms (which I almost always find to be highly distracting and a poor directing technique). Overall, it's worth seeing but not worth owning.

I just watched The Last Samurai for the first time. I don't know much about how the movie is perceived, whether people think it is a great movie, average, or poor; but I absolutely loved it.

Cruise did a pretty good (not quite great) job.
Watanabe, though, was great in his role.

5/5 from me.

I will unquestionably be picking this up on blu (ordering it right now).

Yes, Mostly Yes, Yes, Yes, hell yes, yes and I'll soon see

I see the blu review says 4.5 for PQ and 4.0 for AQ. What would you guys say about it?
(I rented it but on dvd)

This was one of the two movies that everyone compared Avatar to no?
