Default best subwoofer for $300?

I need a recommendation for a subwoofer that's less than $300. It will be used primarily for movies. Got any suggestions?

For less than $300, you'd be looking at a PA-120, a BIC subwoofer, or an HSU subwoofer. For $350 (shipped), the best sub you can get is the A2-300.

Spend $350 and get an Elemental Designs A2-300, that's the best bang for your buck sub out there right now. Check out the ED thread and you'll get tons of info on them there. Tons of blu-ray.com members are very happy, including myself, with this sub. It's gonna take your movies to another level

Check out a local a/v shop in your area. When I first started out in sound i picked up a great B&W sub for 320!

The Hsu STF-2 or the Premier Acoustic PA-120 would be the best for under $300, However like it was said, the eD A2-300 would be the best sub in the price range your talking about.

For $300 plus free shipping, I would seriously consider Candence 12 inch subwoofer as one of my top options.

If you had met me 30 years ago, you would be completely broke by now and living in government housing with a lot of old Audio/Video equipment.

Is the CSX-12 even available? When I go to this link, there's an option to add the CSX-15 to your cart, but I don't see an option to buy the 12.

I've never listened to the Cadence Sub, but I can tell you with full confidence, if you go the ED route you will not be disappointed!

Simple answer is no. The A2-300 will go lower and have more output than the CSX-12

Thanks for all the info on subwoofers guys. After reading numerous threads I went ahead and ordered a Elemental Designs A2-300 Subwoofer while it's still on sale for $350 shipped. Can't wait for it to arrive!

This may be a stupid question but what is the way the rest of you have their sub connected? My current (crappy) sub has just the one cord running from receiver to "line in." Is this the best way to connect a sub or is there a better way? Please note I have to amplifier at the moment, just a Onkyo TX-SR605 receiver.
