My theory is that Ethan's greatest fear is that he is the origami killer. The case is well publicized. His blackouts and the origami are simply his subconscious fueling those fears using what is known about the case.
I could be wrong, but I don't think it is uncommon for people who sleep walk to do things they've never done or things they didn't think they could do. So he either makes the oragami himself or he acquired it at some point and carries it around with him. He wasn't in a blackout when he went to the psychiatrist and dropped it. Perhaps that is even what triggers the blackouts. The realization he has origami in his pocket. Either way that doesn't bother me as much as other things in the game. Red herring or not, it was too obvious for me to think that Ethan was the killer. I still don't understand how the origami killer had killed eight kids and not one of the families thought it was important to tell the cops about the box with the origami clues and a gun in it. Nor did they seem to tell the cops about the letter with the poem. Nor did the cops seem to connect that many of the dads were no longer around. In fact the cops seemed to have nothing beyond what was intentionally left at the scene of the crimes. |
