Priced at $1,000, that Casio is certainly affordable, but I haven’t viewed it with my own eyes – so I can’t speak with any real authority on the PQ it throws. At 2500 ANSI lumens, it’s a bright projector – meaning you could drive a very large screen. 1800:1 contrast isn’t great, which means you shouldn’t expect colors to be reproduced especially well. The native resolution is WXGA, which means anytime you watch a 1080p bluray the projector would have to scale the picture somewhat to 1920x1080 (which isn’t usually a good thing for PQ). Also, it doesn’t support 1080/24p – which is a digital projector’s way of approximating the film look of 24 frames per second. Since I’m a film buff, that would be a deal killer.

In short, the Casio seems more like the kind of projector you’d use in an office setting – doing power-point demos, etc.

YMMV.

It seems like you want a projector set-up, but only kind of. My experience is that a projector set-up is far superior for movie watching and gaming (compared to a standard panel television) – so my suggestion is, if you’re going to do it, do it right.
