How much of a sound quality difference is there between the rc and cf lines. Seems like alot of the price difference is from the better finish.

Also how do the energys compare to psbs or elemental designs. Im really looking for a warm sound. Room is 12w x 16d with hard wood floors. thanks
Unless you have one huge apartment I think the RC-30's will fill the room fine, IMO. One thing you haven't mentioned is will you be using a sub with them? If yes, then I would defiantly recommend the RC-30's to fill the room. Remember bigger isn't always better but more often overkill when it comes to HT. With everything properly crossed and calibrated and running a sub the right, left and center wont be called upon to produce bass but do what they do very well, mid's and highs. Your biggest obstacle will be the wood floors in which I would suggest some area rugs in the room to warm it up.

The problem with that is once you dial in all your speakers the are calibrated to all work together. Then at night you take one very important one out of the equation and that's not good as your fronts will really show the lack of bass because they are setup to focus on mid's and high's with the sub in the mix. The RC-30's are a very nice speaker by the way.

well i listened to cf-30s and 70s today. Along with some infinities, bostons, and more polks. Once again the energys won. The 70s gave me enough bass where i dont think id need a sub. If i go with the smaller ones i think i would. I may have to try one of those sub pads to help out. Is there any one here who has owned both those lines of speakers who can tell me how much ill miss out on with the cfs?

I think at the moment you probably have more experience with the CFs and the RC series then most of us. Many of us have the older C-series that were recently replaced with the CFs. I can say that given your room size the RC-30s will fill the room just fine. I can say that you are comparing the Entry Line(CF) with the Reference Line(RC).

What you should notice is that the RC series is a more detailed and accurate sounding. Also the imaging should be slightly better, Energy has always had speakers with great imaging, so the CF shouldn't be a slouch on that, but I would guess the RCs would be a little better.

PSB will be a little brighter sounding then Energys. I can't tell you what the eD would sound like.

Did you ask your Energy dealer to get you 20-25% off? Then perhaps you could get the RC-50s

Here is one of the last places to buy the older C-series, and they only have the C-300s, not the bigger C-500s. With the 300s you will want... NEED a sub, they are more laidback sounding compared to the CFs though. I have the C-300s and I can attest that they are awesome speakers, and yes, I have heard the PSB Alpha series/Image's, the Kef iQs, Polk Monitor/TSi/RTi, some Bostons, and Klipsch, and no there really isn't anything like the Energys out there for the price.

I understand the deal on the CF-70s, but I still think that overall the RC-30s would ultimately be a better purchase.... but its up to you, its your money and your ears. I have heard reviews and reports that the CFs are tinny sounding, so the RCs would be smoother in the highs.

What is your total budget?

As much as i liked both the c series and r series i went to a local paradigm dealer today to listen to moniter 9s. Now im not sure what i want. Both these brands seem to be amazing for there price. Im gonna have a really hard descision. It looks like ill be getting either rc-30s or moniter 9s. Sadly i can only afford towers so im gonna have to roll in stereo mode for awhile.

In this case I would choose the RC-30 not that paradigm monitor are not good but I think the the rc-line is closer to the studio in terms of quality built performance.

The RC-30 can be found for that cheap because it's end of line but if you ask me between the Digms Monitor and the new CB/CF series from energy I'd pick the Digms Monitors any time more laid back and sound bigger.

I would choose the rc-30 over the CF-50 even over the CF-70 I feel they sound much bigger than they really are. the CF don't sound as big as their predecessors.

Once you try the rc-30 in your room after break in period you'll be really happy you went that route.

What plan do you have for the rc-10?

the old C-series sound close enough to the RC that I think it would sound pretty nice together, now would it be the best combination I don't think so.

Would it match better than your C-300 maybe not but I think it would be ok. After all they are warm sounding and sound really big for such a small bookshelf speaker.

I think I may replace my C-300's with bookshelf's but it's not a final decision. I'm building a new TV stand and may not have room for the towers. If the RC-10's would sound as good as the C-300's and I'm also able to use the C-C100, that would be a low cost option with the price of the RC-10's at Vanns.

I am really glad that you are listening to other speakers. It will let you appreciate whatever it is that you decide to purchase. Paradigm makes very good speakers as does Energy. Either way, you will be happy.

I think on this thread you will find people that like Energy a little more, and on the Paradigm thread you will find the exact same thing.

Best thing that I can say is that just try to hear them on the same equipment you own. That will give you a good sense of what it should sound when it gets into your home.

I have an issue hat is stumping me.

I recently re-organized my HT after purchasing a projector and screen and rehooked up all my equipment and speakers. I ran the YPAO on my Yamaha which with some tweaking does a decent enough job...

problem is it is giving me a warning indicating that the SR (Surrond Right speaker is "Reverse Channel" WTF ??? I checked all wires and connections and are all tight secure and properly connected + / - etc....

What am I missing ??

And so when I am playing a movie now it doesn't want to automatically the 5.1 to all my speakers, I need to select 5.1 enhancer and voila !! sound out of my SR speaker ! clear as day...

Help I am stumped !! and I want me 5.1 back

Not sure what's going on Try to reposition the mic in a different location (for test purposes) and re-run YPAO and see if the warning appears. Might just be a room reflection that's throwing the mic off.

A couple things have come up and ive had to down size again, but not too much. I got the RC-30's and the LCR center. I pick em up tomorrow. You guys would not believe the price... Gotta do some research on a sub now. To build or not to build, that is the question.

From the 70 to the 50 to the 30, oh well still the 30 sound big for a small footprint and honestly they really kick some butt, I can't wait to get your feedback once you hook them up and honestly I think they will give you the best timber match with the LCR.

You will have a great set of speakers no matter what size you were gonna end up with and sometimes too big may be an overkill and considering the savings you did I'm sure you will be able to spoil yourself with something else as well.

Give us some feedback and don't forget break in period. I hope you enjoy your new Energy speakers as much as we do.
