Looks like the CR-10 has (2) 3/4" tweeters too, though.

Cheers! Thank Jeebus for Tax returns

Question

I'm still not sure what to do. You guys think I should go ahead and give the CC-10 a try since I can find any Black C-C100. I know I can adjust the treble, but if that doesn't work I hate to lose out and returning it and get charged with a possible restocking fee.

I'd like some more advice/help on this. Thanks again.

didn't know that.... should do my homework... I love the C-100s they are great for surrounds, I hooked them up as fronts once too, not as nice, but they didn't falter at all....

BTW, I have a Marantz SR5002 receiver. The treble is almost maxed out with my current setup now.

From Jax to Mia is over 300 miles.

I don't know because it sounds clear Am I doing something wrong?

BTW, I manually adjusted the volume on my speakers too so I can hear the dialogue when I watch my BD's.

+4 or 5 DB Center (C-C50)
0 DB Fronts (C-200)

wow that seems high......

I am not saying that your doing anything wrong, I don't mess with the eq that much personally..... a little bass but everything else I leave alone..

the other thing is lets say you get the CC10 and its a little bright, starting with the EQ set to FLAT no treble/no bass adjustments, then adjust the EQ for the fronts to match the CC10, then calibrate with an SPL meter and leave it alone.

What do you mean "bright"? I don't have SPL meter but I can probably borrow one.

bright is used to describe a speaker or component that has an inherent design that adds sound colouration to the highs, higher end detail. Many people think bright speakers are LOUD, and that loud = better.

For instance people think Pioneer receivers and klipsch speakers are bright sounding.

Warm is to add colouration or to focus the sounds on the mid-range, adding mid-range depth and detail, many feel warm speakers are laidback, but more of an audiophiles choice of speaker.

Energy and Dali speakers I would say are warm, and so are marantz receivers.

I e-mailed Energy about the CC-10 and they too said it is a close match to the C-C100. The best match of course would be the C-C100, but very hard to find. There was a member on the AVS forum that used the C-series speakers with a CC-10 and liked it. Only your ears will tell but I think it will be too close to tell it from the C-C100, IMO.

I have my C-C50 at +2.5 and C-200's at 0. Using a Pioneer VSX-517. Mine are not calibrated with an SPL meter. I plan on getting one soon and calibrating properly.

Big Al,, thanks for the reply. That ed 10" looks sweet. The long low box just might be perfect for my room. Im tryn to sell off my trusty ole Cerwin Vega "towers" for subwoofer money. Has anyone heard the Energy CR-10's?

*Update* The 30's and LCR are still downstairs marinating. I heard them, I havnt "listened" to them yet.

I should buy the RC-50's and sell them for a reasonable profit for subwoofer money.

I did hear the CR-10 but I would recommend waiting for the RC-R to drop in price. They would still be great surround speakers a tiny bit brighter with less puch but it's for surround use. What size room are you working with?

You are willing to take that gamble to get sub money? I dunno maybe someone here on this thread is willing to buy them for a reasonable price. Do you have a potential buyer?

I emailed energy yesterday evening and I didn't get a reply

Did the member from the AVS forum collaborate his speakers?

Yeah I was just playing around with the manual settings for my speakers. I just want to hear the dialogue "louder" from the center when I'm watching BD's. That's why I turned up the volume on the center and lowered my front speakers.

Default C-C100 at Amazon

They are selling one for $389.99
What should I do? Seems like a rip-off.

It is considering the price I paid, 100$. It's actually full price at 389$

Maybe you could give the seller a call and find out if they can do better than that.

I was about to email the seller regarding that.
I might be crazy buying a speaker for that much. But it's all about being happy.

225$ would be a fair price but higer than that I would feel like they are trying to rip you off.

I just sent a quick email to them. Hopefully I'll get a response promptly. Unlike superiorhifi.com. They never informed me that they didn't have it in stock until I emailed them over a week later. I even emailed them yesterday if they are going to get any, but it's past 24 hours and no response.
