Thanks Gates. I have your theatre bookmarked as I love what you have done with it. I decided that once I found out there was going to be a price increase, I might as well get the big boys while the getting is good. I'm really looking forward to getting them connected to my M25 amp. That amp just oozes juice and the 100s will eat it up.

I've had a couple of people ask me for photos of my system, but to be honest, it is in a long-temporary location. I moved last summer and my new house needed a serious basement make over.

In my old place I had my projector up and my 92"screen on the wall. I had my 3 DIY towers, one on either side of the screen, and one right under it. I loved it. But now I am using my 42" plasma, one tower is flipped on its side and has the TV on top of it. I equip is on a temp DIY flexy rack and is not very neat.

But I will be doing the usual progress photos when the basement gets going and will have a nice dedicated rack, get my Black Diamond screen up, and it will look great. I really look forward to sharing it with my fellow Paradigm fans and the rest of BR.com.
Thanks for the nice comments Ryan ! Can't wait to see your setup also.

Yeah regardless of what I get, getting an Emo (prob an XPA3) is pretty far away. But speaking of the XPA-3, I have a question regarding compatibility with Paradigm.

Most likely I'll prob end up getting the SE series. The SE3 states a "Maximum Input Power" of 140 Watts while the XPA-3 states "200 watts RMS x 3 into 8 ohms". So is that a problem? i.e. the amp pushing more power than the speakers can handle?

Don't worry about the power. It is distortion that is the speaker killer. The Emo seems to be good, although I am used to seeing lower distortion ratings than 0.1%.

I have a question for anyone. I spent a couple of hours today listening to the Monitor 7, 9, 11, as well as the CC290. I got prices on all but the Monitor 11. Is the difference between the 11 and 9 the same as the 9 and 7 (+$100 for each tower)? Thanks.

I did a quick look at pricing and you are probably more like $130 per tower CAD. I have no idea about U.S.

Regarding subwoofers being fast or slow:

Kudos on the 100's...an excellent decision. I would gladly trade both my pairs of Monitor 11's for one pair of 100's...but finances are making me hold off on that decision for probably 2~3 more years, then I'll be happy to start scouring Audiogon.

In 2 or 3 years, I would like to do the same thing, but if not, I may gladly take those 11's off your hands doby!

In my opinion the 11's are worth the extra cost over the 9's and the difference is even more noticeable. But I have the 11's and 290 so my opinion is a bit prejudiced hehehe.

Hey guys I was thinking of getting a very modest 3 channel Paradigm setup and Im wondering what kind of budget I should realistically be considering. I love those Studio 10's and 20's but have no idea how much a center would go for. I would like to buy the front L/R new and maybe a used center channel, would $1000-1200 be enough.

I went back in today and listened to the SE3 tower and it is the same price per pair as the 11 tower and IMO the SE has a much smoother sound using the studio drivers. I like that piano black finish too. Hell it was easier buying my first home than a set of speakers it seems LOL. But I do agree though there is a good bit of difference in the 11 and 9. Much like the 9 and 7 towers.

Do you have a good subwoofer already? You could get a pair of SE1's and an SE Center new with that budget. The Special Editions are a hybrid of the Studio and Monitor lines. You should be able to get new Studio 10's and a used CC390 or possibly 490 with that budget. For the Studio 20's, you'll likely need to push that budget up a couple hundred.

I couldn't agree more about the difficulty in buying speakers. I've been struggling with which ones to buy for a while now. People keep saying to go with what sounds best, but they all sound wonderful to me.

I hear that they 10's go for $399 each ( New V5 ) what discount if any should I expect to get when I get to a store ? Or so they pretty much charge MSRP?

I would love 10's and CC390 even if it were V4, you guys think dealers would do something like $600 for the two 10's v.4 if they had them ?

Thanks for you're input as always.

I would say 10-15% would be a good dealer discount, some don't like to deal at all.

+1 I couldn't agree with you more azereus in buying speakers of course the hardest thing is to buy the ones that sound the best and fit your budget. For most of us on here you love how a speaker sounds but that one thing gets in the way is the price because it usually over your budget. I listen to the Studio 80s V.2 or V.3 when I was buying speakers and love their sound but the price was well over twice the price of the Monitor 9s I ended up buying. I think I made 3 trips to the store and listen to speakers for over 2 hours each time before I made my decision. I don't regret my decision because the price difference went to my center and receiver.

Of course, I would love to move up to the Studio 60s or 100s if any upgrade is in the future. I need to get an Emotiva XPA-3 first for my front sound stage which will open up my speakers to their full potential.

When I bought my SE's not too long ago, the 10's were $700/pr and the 20's were a grand. Didn't price any centers because I'm using a third SE1 in place of a traditional center. Price may vary by market, volume, location of next closest dealer, etc etc. I've also heard that Paradigm is in the process of raising dealer costs due to currency exchange rates, so that's going to push up retail pricing, but that may not have gone into effect yet.

I was at my dealers place today and he confirmed that the price increase is April 1st. He told me as long as I order mine before that, the prices stay the same. But after that, even the stuff they already have in stock will be going up.

Well that is a bunch of BS right there. Every dealer may act different, but I know for us, anything we had in stock before the price increase generally we offer based on old pricing.
