I'm sure it's ANOTHER transfer, anyway. Liesberger is doing it right NOW and still working on it. So it must be another transfer. Rejoice.

I've set my DVR.
Someone posted on AVSForum that HDNet could have gotten a hold of the new digital master Disney plans on using for the Blu edition to be released sometime around the sequel. This is unconfirmed of course.

Also a rep from HDNet posted that the movie will be running again in its entirety, without interruption on HDNet Movies (HDNet has commercial breaks) in July.

So did anyone see it and is it the same as the ComicCon transfer or was it something entirely new?

I saw it. Save for one quick clip, it's entirely new material. We were treated to it in IMAX 3D, so you'll need to check it out in front of Alice in Wonderland IMAX 3D to see it in its ideal presentation. Otherwise, I'm sure it'll be online in a few days. At least, I hope so.

It's in front of Alice 3D at the regular theaters (and if you walk out of the movie immediately after the trailer, your money will be better spent), and looks pretty darn cool.

Looks like we'll be seeing most of the programs without helmets, instead of that cool Halo effect from the SDCC teaser.
Also focuses pretty exclusively on the Son-of-Flynn plot setup, so we're likely to get one more specific trailer as summer approaches...Still, didn't even a dust-covered Flynn's Arcade just give ya 80's chills?

I have recorded many a movie off of HDNet and have never seen a commercial during the movie. The only commercials are between the movies.

No, goofy...I'm talking about the HDNET HD presentation of the original 1982 TRON. Not new TRON: Legacy stuff.

Gotta stay current with the latest few posts...

Well, partial bad on my part. I originally said, ComicCon, but it was just a "screening" as someone pointed out. Wasn't necessarily at ComicCon, although it could have been...I don't know.

But the comment was that it was an HD print, but was filled with speckles and dirt, and was quite disappointing.

The HDNET airing was fairly clean, but grainy during the non-computer world parts.

There's no way to de-grain them. They were shot as such. It's not a fault of the transfer.

Default HD Net

They must be using the old transfer made years ago for the DVD. It's so grainy and noisy, I couldn't believe it when I read the Tron was shot in 65mm. This transfer looks as crappy as every other 80's movie.

Yeah, I'm also confused. If it looked crappy I'd contact my cable company or check my TV and receiver connections, because something is wrong. That was definitely the best it has ever looked.

I am a programmer not a user. That was the best computer geek movie out at the time. That and Weird Science. I can't wait for all these cool movies to come out. I am so looking forward to seeing it on my new 85" screen.

Lisberger is one of my favorite animators...I watched Animalympics endlessly on the basic cable services of the early 80's. The aftermath of Tron was tragic for him, he is, in a way, the Orson Welles of modern animation. I'm happy his creation is coming back in a big way, but I also hope this may lead to a second chance.

Hopefully if Tron comes out on Blu it'll have more than a seconds worth of Grid Bugs in it....

Default "What we've got here is a failure to communicate."

Sounds like we've got a communciation problem here folks... posters can't seem to distinguish between which version we're talking about here at any given time. The "HD" screened version from a while back, the DVD version, the HDNET version, or the new BD version.

Trailer says it's available in Disney 3D and IMAX 3D... So will there also be a 2D version in theaters as well? I hope so because I don't think I'm gonna bite on the 3D "Revolution".
