UPS just dropped off my order. They ship from Shepherdsville, Ky. They also shipped my extra copy of Pierrot(originally said it would ship on 3/30), so it is in stock at CC.

Yeah Bigger Than Life came this morning. Man, forget a B&N sale, if Criterion keeps this 25% off code working until atleast after May, I will be happy, since I get my films shipped early and building up points for a $50 gift certificate.

agreed, if amazon wants to play pricing games and CC keeps the code valid and ships early, there is no reason to order elsewhere until the B&N sale hits.

Amazon prices will go down. Thankfully I had pre-ordered the March releases before the price hikes. It still makes more sense for me to go with Amazon and Prime. I just don't want to pay 5.95 shipping.

Just ordered 6 movies from CC for $125. Hard to go wrong when it comes to about $20.50 for a movie.

Chungking Express (blu)
Monsoon Wedding (blu)
Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters
...And God Created Woman
Unfaithfully Yours
Kicking and Screaming

With the AFS code, and the $50 dollar gift card when you spend $500, it really is the best thing going on right now

Oops!

Sorry, I thought the "AFS" code was only the "name of the code", and not the code itself... Thanks!

So, do you believe Amazon will price match a B&N sale? Man, I really want more Criterions Blu-rays.

Yes they did the last 2 times it seemed (well not price match, but did take them down alot.). But the thing is no one knows when/if there will ever be a B&N sale again.

Yeah, I did stop by a B&N in AZ a little over a month ago and the employee said he would check the system for an upcoming sale. Nothing showed up for him. Not sure if it was B.S. but i gave him the benefit of the doubt. He relayed that most of the time it would be in the system if there was an upcoming sale and it showed nothing for March. With a $5 coupon and the lower tax in AZ (I live in CA) the CC come out to under $15!

I gave up waiting on other sales and ordered several Blu-Rays from Criterion direct:

El Norte
Last Year at Marienbad
Playtime
Bottle Rocket
Complete Monterey Pop Festival
Yojimbo/Sanjuro

Not bad for $180 shipped.

I know this is a little off topic, but I am getting ready to order several posters off of the Criterion Store, anyone know a decent price store or site for frames?

About a year ago I was going to start collecting movie posters, and I went all over the forums and read everything I could. These are the two sites that most people use, from what I read and what people recommended to me

http://wholesaleposterframes.com/pro...products_id=28

http://www.hollywoodposterframes.com/

Sadly I never go into buying any posters but then again I was only into original posters and those were $500+....for the movies I wanted anyway

How about http://www.postergods.com and get them for 50% off or http://www.allposters.com.

I don't know about the first site, but I think allposters (which I like) don't carry frames for 27" x 40" which is the sizes for Criterion posters. I looked at the frames at Walmart which has ones for that size, but they are crap and fall apart so beware of those. So I guess those $50 and up ones are the way to go. I still have my Pierrot le fou and Vivre sa vie posters in the rolled package they were sent in due to frames (good ones) being too much $ for me right now with movie buying and all.

What are other Studio Canal titles that are licensed to Criterion that are not on the list of soon to go OOP. I figure that these will also go OOP within the next year or two as the licenses will prolly be pulled when they come up for renewal. I might as well start making my way through those titles and see what I should be picking up to buy.

Thanks stobbart, kndy, & cassavetesgodard for the input. Didn't realize just how expensive frames are these days!

allposters.com did not have the 27x40 criterion poster size unfortunately.

Try mega craft stores like Michaels, Joann's or Garden Ridge. (Some are not nation wide) But these places always have specials going on. 30-50 % off a lot. Michaels had buy one get one on poster frames the other day. Nice frames too.
