I play a fair amount of Xbox 360, sometimes a few hours at a time. Usually there's not a problem. But recently playing Dragon Age, which has static images of health/party members, etc. I noticed some retention when shutting the 360 down. However, this quickly goes away when you start to watch some full screen TV or movie. Never stays around after viewing other formats.

IR can happen, but most newer sets don't have this problem. The way the TV is setup can have a major effect. I leave my set on the higher orbiter setting and of course using sensible settings will minimize, and in the case of my set eliminate IR. I get no retention at all on my Kuro. Its setup for movie watching in a dark environment so the brightness and contrast are in check.
Newer Panasonic sets are pretty much free of IR too when setup correctly. I still hear stories of Samsung and LG sets having image retention, but I honestly haven't witnessed it on the newer sets. I've yet to see it on my mother's LG for example and my brother plays Xbox 360 on it regularly. And yes, gaming is excellent on plasma. Motion is great and there's no blurring or ghosting like what's associated with LCD gaming. |

I was reading in another thread not to play ANY video games for the first 200 hours or so, which kinda blows since I am waiting for the 54" G25's to get here. Does that mean for the first few months of owning a Panasonic G25 I can't play God of War 3 ? or any other games for that matter ?

It depends. My buddy's brother left the 360 menu up from a game for about 6 hours. He fell asleep playing and the IR issues lasted for some time. Check other threads, people have talked about it happening to them.

Just be careful.
I gamed on my plasma from the off but after playing would run some full screen content. Actually at first when I wasn't using the TV myself I left full screen content running as a bedding in period. |

I've had nothing but plasma's since their release. Paid $4000 for a 720p back in the day. Its my understanding the first hundred hours to be careful, but afterwards you are OK. I was paranoid at first on that first TV. Sometimes seeing what I thought was burn in, but was actually just some image retention that always went away. On these new TV's most have a auto pixel shifter so you should have no problem.
It is true IMO that as time goes on its less likely to see burnin as the unit won't burn is bright as when it was new. I've left mine on for 8 or so hours without burn in , but that wasn't early in the TV's life. If your concerned most devices, including the PS3 and Xbox have a auto shutdown feature if left on for too long. I just recently bought a new Plasma , about 2 months ago, and have had no issues at all. Have the same Panasonic lush has.
