Ever? Yes. On November 20 with the Unrated DVD? No. There are many threads on this already, no need to create a new thread.

Default Die Hard 4.0 (Live Free or Die Hard) - Which version is on BD?

DH 4.0 was released on Blu-Ray in the UK today but it appears that it's the theatrical cut, not the uncut version that's found on the special edition DVD.

Does anyone know if this is correct and why this is?

Will the version included in the Die Hard Collection be the uncut version?

If this is true then I'll be pretty pissed off. This was the Blu-Ray title that I was most looking forward to and simply won't bother with it if it's the theatrical cut. I'll just get the DVD.

You mean we have to deal with the PG-13 version on Blu-ray? That's just nuts. Die Hard should be rated R. Being pG13 won't make it a bad movie but sterilizes an otherwise great action series.

Yes, the PG-13 version.

In my own home, I want to watch what the writers wrote and what the director shot. NOT what the FCC/BBFC deems appropriate. Grr!

The same thing happened with AVP..... all the fight scenes were cut short due to violence and all the other cool stuff that everyone really wanted to see. What a shame!

Die Hard 4 is not a case of government interference, but actually studio interference. Fox wanted a PG-13 film for summer release because so many kids go to the movies this time of year. The finished film was an R, but a few trims and overdubbing got it down to PG-13.

Unfortunately, Blu-ray is getting the PG-13 version, but DVD will get the R version.

The unrated version isn't coming out any time soon.

The PG-13 version is coming with the other Die Hard films on 11/20.

got mine yesterday (UK) and its a 15 rating which would point away from the PG-13 equivalent.

The Japanese version (which I'll be getting) is coming out on the 11/7, also before the US version. It doesn't look like it'll be the unrated version either. I was thinking that since Japan is a lot more lax when it comes to movie ratings they wouldn't have needed to edit it down to PG-13 for theaters, but if it was different from the US version we probably would have heard about it by now.

Oh well, I purposefully missed it in theaters because of the PG-13 issue since I assumed it'd be unrated on Blu-Ray, but I'm not gonna wait any longer. I want to support Fox on Blu-Ray, and I can always sell it later on and make back some of my money.

It looks as though no matter which part of the world you're in, you're getting the same cut of the film.

In the UK two versions were released on DVD and one on BD. It makes sense that if an unrated BD were to come out, it would come out in all regions as it'll likely be the same disc with slight tweaks for language etc, but the same transfer, sound, menus etc.

Fox will be double-dipping on BD

Ours go:

Uc - Universal, mainly for young chidren
U - Universal, suitable for all
PG - Parental Guidance. Rarely used anymore. Replaced with...
12A - Over 12s view by themselves. Under 12s need an adult
15 - Only suitable for 15+ y/o
18 - Only suitable for 18+ y/0

That makes more sense. Thanks.

So why do they restrict themselves on the DVD/BD release as well? Surely the stuff about kids going to the movies in the summer doesn't affect DVDs/BDs? I'm sure most of the kids who want this film now will be getting their parents to buy it for them for xmas so the PG13 rating is not needed? (Or do parents in the US pay more attention to classifications )
