ageed.ive already had a rant about the video quality. you should see the screen shot of the end of TTT where gandalf, aragorn, legolas, gimli. etc look onto the horizon , its DNR at its absolute best.

btw how did that guy on photobucket get his copy so fast???its not out till next month

I have liked most, if not all of the screenshots I have seen. But I should add that I am not nearly as much of a videophiloe, as I am an audiophile....so, any word on the quality of the 6.1 DTS-HD soundtrack yet?

Why are we playing screenshot scientist on THIS forum before any review material becomes available?

Exactly what I was asking several posts back. There is quite a frenzy considering there have not been any official reviews.

Does anyone have an idea of when those reviews will be posted? I am very curious to what the "experts" have to say....

There's SUPPOSED to be noise-reduction?...
That's funny, I thought people HATED noise-reduction.

Besides, that shot looks quite like it should be, except a little jagged here and there or whatever that is.

You could shoot the reviewer who will be doing it a PM and ask if he has a general idea

DVD vs Blu (the Biblo shot from before)

That is a good idea Diesel.

I hate being at work sometimes, especially now. I can't see any pics from photobucket or imageshack thanks to the IT elves, and it is killing me!

The better way to explain it is that the choice of film stock can indeed provide a camera negative that appears virtually grain-free, or with very, very fine film grain that's only visible from frame-to-frame and that doesn't really stand out in a single frame grab.

SPR was shot grainy deliberatly for artistic reasons. LOTR was not, and so is livinig up to its true-to-film-source picture quality goals even with a BD void of obvious grain.

My guess is there will be some very fine film grain visible in some scenes, but not in others. Considering that the only "film" aspect of the capture was a camera negative, because that was scanned and all editing and IP were fully digital, it's very possible that the "original" look to this picture is virtually grainless.

No one on AVS seems to want to comment on the AQ

They are busy b****ing about the PQ

A couple of the members continue to ask about it but get no response

That statement applies pretty much to all of their threads.

.....and why am I not surprised?

Between the 2, I am more looking forward to DTS-HD audio than the PQ....but that's just how I roll.

Uh, can't exactly post an screen cap of audio, hence the direction of the discussion If one of the handful of people who got the disc early feel like commenting on audio, they will. Audio is pretty foolproof really.

My wife will really appreciate the improved PQ as I will, but she will be totally impressed once she hears these movies again. It has been something I have been preparing myself for in the last year or so, by not watching any of the movies. A lot has changed in my HT since we last watched these (like everything in my sig), so it may be the closest thing I can ever compare to a holy experience.

I hear you. They need 2 threads over there........one to ***** and moan about the PQ issues (the sky is falling!), and one for everything else.

The quality of the audio is very sujective and limited to many, many variables, hence my curiosity and if it has been discussed or mentioned. I don't think audio is actually all that foolproof IMO. Plus, I am trying to steer the discussion away from the PQ talk.....

Maybe we need two threads HERE about the LOTR BDs.

One could be called "The Official LOTR B***h About Something That Hasn't Been Seen Or Reviewed Yet Thread".

Another could be "The Official I'm Not Going To Buy Anything But The LOTR EE BDs Thread".
