That's funny, I thought people HATED noise-reduction. Besides, that shot looks quite like it should be, except a little jagged here and there or whatever that is. |

The better way to explain it is that the choice of film stock can indeed provide a camera negative that appears virtually grain-free, or with very, very fine film grain that's only visible from frame-to-frame and that doesn't really stand out in a single frame grab.
SPR was shot grainy deliberatly for artistic reasons. LOTR was not, and so is livinig up to its true-to-film-source picture quality goals even with a BD void of obvious grain. My guess is there will be some very fine film grain visible in some scenes, but not in others. Considering that the only "film" aspect of the capture was a camera negative, because that was scanned and all editing and IP were fully digital, it's very possible that the "original" look to this picture is virtually grainless. |

One could be called "The Official LOTR B***h About Something That Hasn't Been Seen Or Reviewed Yet Thread". Another could be "The Official I'm Not Going To Buy Anything But The LOTR EE BDs Thread". Last edited by radagast; 03-22-2010 at 05:21 PM. Reason: clarify |
