Internet Explorer 9 Preview? - Blu-ray Forum

Anybody else using this?

Obviously it's not finished and lacks any kind of usability but it seems extremely fast so far. Nearly as good as Chrome, but FF 3.6 is still far above all the rest.

Rendering seems weird though, especially with text. Gives me eyestrain!

Ya it's nothing that great but I'll stick with FireFox for the time being.

Are you using Win 7 or Vista Maximus?

I tried the beta version of IE8 back when, and it had lots of little bugs with Vista....annoyed the crap out of me.

Win7 on my desktop. It runs without any bugs, but the rendering is a bit irritating and obviously it lacks other standard features like tabbed browsing etc... as it is just a preview.

tried it on my work machine. looks like they're finally going to catch up to the rest of the world. its really quite impressive how quickly microsoft is adjusting to competition (win 7, wm7, etc)

hopefully we get a useable version soon

I think they added tabbed browsing now. I haven't tried it oout yet but I saw some video reviews and the tabbed browsing is now located on the top right side of the page.

I like how Internet Explorer loads sites like IGN faster than Firefox though. Check out this video of how fast IE9 loads: -

I am semi-interested, though not enough to install a beta build on my work or home machines. I will wait for the final (i.e. official) release, then I need to read the reviews, before I decide on an installation date. I didn't like IE8, and the network team at work advised everyone not to install it either (due to a host of issues with our existing apps), so I'm not anxious to jump on Microsoft's wagon with their latest browser iteration. Speed isn't everything; it needs to be robust and safe above all else.

I'm using it, always curious and don't mind beta testing. It's got its quircks, Flash Player doesn't always run right, though the latest update helped a lot, but it's still not supported by Adobe. Speed wise, it's very strange, certain sites fly, others are slower. Hopefully they will have a final release soon, but they do seem to be addressing problems through updates ( have a special preview flash player for beta 9 also).

What's the best out there now, I'ld like to compare beta 9 to the best .

I have been using it. It is okay but many pages do not load correctly so I still have FireFox very handy.

Once you go Firefox you don't go back ... to anything. Plus, Firefox has a nice 3rd party add-on for IE emulation which works famously!

The 3rd party add-on's alone are a reason to stick with Firefox indefinitely.

Yeah, I felt the same way when IE8 first came out. I immediately reverted back to IE7 because it gave me a lot of issues.

I hear Google Chrome is pretty fast and works the same way IE9 does. I read that IE9 uses HTML5 and that's what makes it faster when compared with IE8.

It's still beta so that's expected I guess. It's got potential though, I think it might be the best IE yet.

I use Firefox sometimes too for websites like Apple trailers but I use IE more.

We'll see how IE9 handles when the final version is released I guess. It would be great if people could report feedback on it from time to time here though.

My workplace is using it now. I still prefer Firefox.

EDIT: Wait we just had an update, but I don't think we are using it now. I'm sure we will eventually merge over.

Depends on the O/S your taking about. I am still on XP 64-bit so ... yah ... Chrome sucks on it. Firefox for me till I switch to Windows Vista Sp3 ... errr I mean ... Windows 7.

The official release of 9 has been out for a few days.

It's available for Vista and 7 users only, and available in 32- or 64-bit versions.

You can download it from the official website or a hosting site such as FileHippo (download links are on the right).
