I have to agree with the 7s, 9s, and 11s. If I were starting from scratch and building a system with the monitor line (which I have owned in the past) I would probably go for the 7s and get a better deeping sub. Or I would to with the 11s and save for the sub. The 9s are kind of where the Studio 80s used to be, stuck between the more affordable Studio 60s and the larger more powerful 100s.
I agree with you 100% with the monitor 9's and the older studio 80's, also love the new set-up nice choice on speakers and the color

I wish we stocked and displayed the 11s and not the 9s. There just isn't enough of an improvement over the 7s to make any decent sales numbers on the 9s. And if a customer wanted the 9s and we didn't display them, it would be easy to sell them off of listening to the 7s and the 11s.

Back to the crossover talk. Make sure if you are setting your speakers to small with a crossover setting in receiver/preamp that the crossover setting on the back of the sub is in bypass mode. On most paradigm subwoofers that means it is set to maximum.

Well I listened to the Monitor 9's as they didn't have the 7's to demo. Not a bad sounding speaker but a little brighter then my Energy's but not that bad, IMO. They recommend the 9's over the 7's because of the better motor structure on the woofers and it's more efficient over the 7's. Pricing was $800 for a pair of 7's, $1,000 for the 9's and $520 for the CC-290. Not sure if that is in line as this is the first store I visited.

erict, since you already have two wonderful subs...why not try out the Studio Reference 20's? That will also solve your desire for bookshelf speakers.

Well since I already own the 9's and the CC-290, I'll have to disagree with you guys. The 9's are needed!!!!!

I was all out for bookshelf's per my new TV stand design but have since changed my mind so any new speaker upgrade will be towers. If I do decide to purchase the Paradigm's I am looking at the 9's or 7's and the CC-290. As already stated , the 7's are probably the smarter choice between the two giving the savings and using a subwoofer in the mix.

Like most power centers all the outlets are protected the same so it really doesn't matter. The outlets that are tagged (TV,Cable, etc) are just for labeling ease so if you ever have to unplug one you don't have to trace the cord so in turn the are not made for that particular product.

Default Paradigm April 1 price changes.

I have finally received my updated Paradigm price list. Universal Canadian increases, Monitor Line and SE Line seem to be hit the hardest across the board. While the Studio Line is a bit irradic with some stuff staying put for the most part (Stud10, 20s), some stuff going down in price (CC490 and CC590), and the rest going up by different amounts. PM me or send me an email ryan@liptons.ca if you have any questions regarding Canadian stuff.

Are the M9's and CC-290 going up in the states?

Hey Ryan, on my 100's I don't get a bassy midrange and my pb13 won't go that high...I'm thinking of getting an 3ch amp so I can here these speakers correctly! Clarity is excellent but for having 15 drivers in the front stage, the ultra sub should be just extra...These speakers shoild be kicking some ass!!! amp recommendations under $1500?

How old are the speakers? There is quite a break in period for these speakers. For an inexpensive solution most will probably recommend Emotiva. My personal thought is to maybe look at Anthem MCA30, or even just for the fronts, use a NAD C275 (of if you can still find one a C272).

To get the maximum out of his speakers wouldn't he be better to get a 7 channel amp and bi-amp all 3 fronts ? Especially since they are the 100's I would think that you'd want to get the maximum out of them that you can. I did that with my 60's and WOW !

Hi Ryan,
Could you tell me what the approx. break in period is on the Monitor 9's? I've had mine about 3 weeks - can't imagine them sounding any better but I do understand there is a break in period.
Thanks.

Hey Eric,

In a couple of places you have talked about not wanting a brighter speaker. It sounds like you found the Paradigms to be a bit bright. I only bring this up, because I was so close to buying the Studio 20s, which are great speakers, but to my ears they were a little bright. I really wanted them, but I am glad I went with something a little smoother on the top end. I am not knocking Paradigm...actually the opposite, I think they are one of the best speaker brands out there, but for some, they are a little bright.

Go with your ears.

Yes they were a tad brighter then my Energy's but not bad at all and I really enjoyed listening to them. To me they had a really good midrange and crisp highs but it wasn't fatiguing to me.
