Default is my PS3 region free?

i live in the USA and bought my PS3s in the USA. 60GB launch model and a 120GB Slim. i want to order season 1 and 2 of the Inbetweeners, but it is coded Region 2. if my PS3s are not region free, can i manually change the coding from Region 1 to Region 2?

Your PS3 is Region A and I don't think you can change the region coding on it but I could be wrong.

No PS3 is region free, never heard of it either and I've only heard of region locked PS3's.

It's region free for ps3 games. It's region locked for blu-ray and DVD movies. The ps3 is region A for blu-ray movies and region 1 for DVD movies. So it won't play films from other regions (unless it's a region free or region 0 film).

My understanding is this: the majoriy of the software is region free. There are certain sports games that are region locked)

Here's the breakdown:

-PS3 disc titles are all region free. However, due to title ID, DLC and other add-on content, as well as patches, are region-specific.
-PS3 downloadable titles are region free, as long as you can purchase them. However, due to title ID, DLC and other add-on content, as well as patches, are region-specific.
-BD movies are region A, but many movies are region free anyway.
-DVD movies and PS2 games (if you have a backwards-compatible model for the latter) are region 1.
-PSX games are NA region.

okay, thanks guys. my question has been answered. unfortunately, i'll have to hold off on ordering the Inbetweeners. i would really like to see the show without all the censoring. when they broadcast it here on BBC America HD, it is almost a continuous "beep beep beeeep beep beep."

You're true option is to get a region free DVD player.

I have a Japanese PS3 and an American one in my house.

I think people have covered it previously. One thing that's nice and was really surprised about was that PS1 game downloads work on both consoles.
