I know it isn't the popular choice, but I'd rather pay a person for a 12 year-old OOP Criterion release of the film (tempering my expectations accordingly) than add to DDs revenue on this title, which will no doubt be comparatively substantial.
It is a popular choice. Anyone who has any respect for those movies would refuse to buy Dragon Dynasty's abominations. They offend every Blu-Ray owner out there. Outside of the fact they look terrible, they are merely upscales of DVD releases. The PAL running time on the Blu-Ray is obvious. Seriously, DD? Are you listening?

i know a lot of people reference back to this old janus twitter update, but last week the criterion twitter responded to a request from eli roth about them (criterion) putting "Hausu" out on bluray and they replied "we're working on it". i know a new restored print started playing out west recently. hopefully between that and them carrying the shirt and poster, it'll be sometime this year. /crosses fingers

Yeah, I think "Huasu" will probably come out after its theatrical run. It's currently still playing in theaters. I'll be going to see it in May in Providence, RI. So, hopefully later in the year we'll have it from Criterion.

I ordered both the Marienbad blu-ray and the replacement case from Criterion about a week and a half ago, and both have already arrived in the mail.

Not Criterion but...52% off right now on deepdiscount on KINO (yes, which never happens). Including those Avant Garde sets at $14 and other box sets..wow! Especially you Salo fans, you need to watch Bunuel's "L'Age d'Or" which is on sale for like $11.

On a Criterion note, celebrating Akira Kurosawa with a week of Kurosawa viewing each night.

Hmm... I was hoping to snatch The General and Battleship Potemkin but they both seem to be staying at around $25 everywhere, including DDD.

The only title on which they did that was The Third Man, with the rest you'd have to replace them yourself.

I do have a question about that to anyone who might know. Will they simply first empty the existing stock of cardboard cases for these releases, or will the early titles stay in their cardboard case?

Default Question regarding the 2 pack Akira Kurosawa release.

Hey everyone,

I just want to know for sure that the Combo edition of Akira Kurosawa's

Yojimbo\Sanjuro features identical bonus materials to the single editions of

said movies!!

Does anyone know that for certain???

If yes, I will order it now.

Please let me know as fast as possible.

Thanks

There is one difference, you get a nice cardboard case to throw away.
