To be honest I didnt try level matching and the difference wouldn't of been heard unless you were doing it "on the fly".
I assumed it was probably my imagination untill I read David's post earlier here.

Edit... found the dedicated thread on this and took it there!

paidgeek,

I really appreciate your continued effort to provide us accurate technical information on SPHE products and listenning to our concers.

There's seems to be too much confusion or mis-information regarding the implementation of DTHD tracks on SPHD BDs.

From what I gather, this is what we have:

Ghost Rider - DTHD 5.1 @ 48/20
Stomp The Yard - DTHD 5.1 @ 48/20
The Fifth Element - DTHD 5.1 @ 48/20 upsampled from 48/16
Immortal Beloved - DTHD 5.1 @ 48/24 upsampled from 48/16
Spiderman - DTHD 5.1 @ 48/24 upsampled from 48/16
Spiderman 2 - DTHD 5.1 @ 48/24
Spiderman 3 - DTHD 5.1 @ 48/24
Surf's Up - DTHD 5.1 @ 48/24

Hostel - ???
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind - ???
20 Million Miles to Earth - ???

And all DTHD tracks on SPHE discs have dialog normalization disabled.

Can you please take the time to help clarify this matter and confirm if this is indeed how the discs are presented?

And what about Hostel and the upcoming titles listed? I have no information regarding how is it presented.

Thank you for your attention

If Panasonic does indeed release this new 1.1 profile player @ $500 soon, then prices of the 1.0 players will HAVE to drop to clear out the inventory. So dont be too surprised to see good price drops on current bluray players. As long as they play the movies, then I think the population will care VERY little if they are 1.1 or not.

But, HD-DVD camp seems to think that interactivity is where it is at and so far that hasnt been the case.

Good!!

Now just lower the price and clear out all the 1.0 outdated players!!! All of this points to being an excellent way to get 1.1 spec into the mainstream.

Agree, plenty of decent 1.0 players that can be discounted to $300.

Thank you for your information, just wanted to check since Sony normally outputs more titles per month.

Keep up the good work!

What happened to the Daewoo profile 2.0 player?

It is a rockin' disc. I love it. The Magnolia section at Best Buy was playing it as a demo disc. Thank God they switched Bon Jovi out for AC/DC. Sorry BJ fans.

That's what Paramount did with some of their titles... the announced Star Trek for HD-DVD and said nothing about blu-ray. Which makes me wonder, why is Paramount NOT releasing or announcing ANY Star Trek movies on HD-DVD? That would be a sure fire hit on their side...

Parmamount also said that the Star Trek series could be coming to Blu down the road.

Hi Guys !

Thought I would pop in for a moment.
I think you should be seeing Josh and/or Ben post some thoughts on the Blu-ray festival soon.

Meanwhile, I’ve got to run as I’m looking for other influential journalists like Dave Vaughn.
I can’t find him.
Dave, if you’re reading this……..I’m wearing the Armani.

I would like to personally thank WickyWoo and the other moderators and administrators here that stayed at home to hold down the fort from troll attacks while their colleagues were having too much fun. I would also like to thank paidgeek and Max for manning the Insider Thread while others were at the festival.

I’m really busy with other stuff for the remainder of the week so don’t read anything into my absence. I’ll try to check in if I can.

So, if Warner's made up its corporate mind, it should let people know before the Christmas shopping season. It won't affect their revenue. People on the losing side (hopefully HD DVD) who already have players will still snap up Warner titles while they're still available. People without players will at least know what they're getting into.
a bomb for hd dvd if they go blu if they go red then they just split hollywood in half

Paid or others...

Any chance we will start seeing audio only BD releases?
I would really enjoy getting some old CD's in a lossless format.
