Question Classic Disney 2D Ani-musical Blu-rays

Ever since watching Princess and the Frog recently, I've got a nostalgia itch to rewatch all the classic Disney 2D animation musical films. Unfortunately, dvds look like utter crap on my monitor, so I'm wondering, what ones are out on blu (either US or region free)?

I know Beauty and the Beast is coming out in the Fall, but Disney's site fails for much else information. (And googling or eBay-searching for Disney brings up so much crap)

Specifically I'm wondering about: Pocohontas, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Lion King 1&2, Aladdin series, Mulan, Emperor's New Groove, Road to El Dorado, Tarzan, Hercules, Prince of Egypt (not Disney, but whatever) and probably others I can't think of at the moment. Pretty much if its 2d and a musical, I want it.

The only 2D Disney Animated Classics that have been released so far are:

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Pinocchio
Sleeping Beauty
Dumbo (in some countries)

Beauty and the Beast will be out later this year and The Lion King is rumoured for an Autumn 2011 release. The other titles you mentioned have yet to be announced or rumoured.

It's frustrating, but we'll be waiting many years for most of those films.

Here's a list of all the Disney films and their aspect ratios. If you read the list it will also let you know at the bottom which ones are available and which ones are coming, and for what date.

I still wonder if we're going to hear Beauty & The Beast gets bumped because of the 2011 theatrical rerelease.

Beauty and the Beast has been given a release date, right? I should hope that Disney sticks to that one.
I would like to know when the Fantasia movies are coming out, since I stopped hearing anything about those.

Road to El Dorado (much like Prince of Egypt which you mentioned) is not a Disney movie. Also Lion King 2 as well as the two Aladdin sequels were straight to video and the animation is weaker.

I'd love for those movies to come out on blu-ray. How are the songs in Princess and the Frog by the way? Are they of Aladdin/Beauty and the Beast/Little Mermaid/Hercules/Mulan quality?

The songs take some getting use to. Not AS good, but very cute for the most part.

Disney has had seasons of greatness and season's of clunkers.

'The Little Mermaid', 'The Lion King', 'Beauty & the Beast' & 'Aladdin' all were from a seasonof greatness. 'Brother Bear', 'Treasure Planet', 'Atlantis' & a few others were from a season clunkers.

I would place 'The Princess & the Frog' as a perfect blend of the two seasons. It has it's moments of genius and then it has it's moments of groans (the 3 cajun hunters).

Out of the ones you mention, The Lion King is part of the diamond line-up, and is expected to be released late 2011.

The rest of the titles could come at any time, although their are many rumours for Aladdin.

As for the other Aladdin titles and The Lion King II, its uknown whether Disney are going to release the sequels around the same time as the main releases come or not.
They did/do with DVD, so im 'guessing' the same will happen with Blu-ray aswell.

Man! That is some serious work you put into that list! Thaks for doing all that!

I hope they start to announce more and more classic Disney titles for blu very soon. I'm still sitting here waiting to hear about what happened to Dumbo? We were supposed to be watching that in March!

I think once Nemo comes out on blu, and we start to get The Lilttle Mermaid, Lion King, Aladdin, etc., most Disney/blu-ray fans will be happy!
