Default Ok i don't want my polk monitor speakers!!!

I went to BB and a few other stores yesterday. I really liked the martin logan and the bowers and wilkins. If i was to spend around 4-5k on a 5.1 system which of these would you go with?
1. Martin Logan
2. Bowers and Wilkins
3. Klipsch
4. Paradigm
5. Polk

For a sub i would like to get a svs cylinder sub.

# 2 or 4. Your right on track with the sub. Maybe you should get two subs right away, you'll end up getting a second sub along the line anyways, so why not just get it over with now

Thumbs up

Paradigm is the way to go and with a amp! I would have got the studio series with the money I had before with out a doubt and have not heard the bower wilkens, completely sold!

What are your listening habits? Are you geared more towards HT or music, what's the percentage?

Okay, these are my opinions. I like the Klipsch Reference, B&W's, and Paradigm's. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these. I would suggest seperate amplifiers, your Onkyo will run super hot with any of these. Good luck!

I can also say the ML's are awesome speakers, but they are geared more towards music.

BW out of your choices but you should check out Axiom M80 towers very power hungry speakers you would need a amp cause I really believe your Onkyo would melt

Try to go out and listen to the five you chose....you really can't go wrong with any of them. Sound is so subjective, it is hard for me to tell you to get a certain speaker manufacturer when your ears might not hear the same thing mine do. I think once you did audition a few of these, you will find out what kind of sound your ears like, and the decision will be made for you. The hardest part is to keep what your ears like within your budget.

By the way, I sold my Polks for Paradigms, IMO, they are a warmer sound, and not as "forward" as the Polk sound. Lastly, nice taste in subs, I have 2 SVS cylinder subs, and they are some of the best subs out there.....great looking subs without sacrificing performance.

I would not choose any of them personally, there are IMO speakers that are better for the same money.

Focal Chorus
Revel Concerta
Dali
Dynaudio Excite Bookshelfs and Focus Bookshelfs,

these will outperform pretty much all the ones you have listed. For both HT and for Music. Everyone always asks what is your HT to Music Ratio, but really it comes to sound and from that the speakers ability to reproduce detail, depth, power, imaging and coherence, these four do it better then the others, go listen to them to. A speaker doesn't have to be Forward and in your ear to be good for HT, I get just as much detail in the highs as klipsch speakers, but it isn't forced up my ear. JMO.

If you had to choose just between the ParaDIMES and B$Ws, then I would suggest a hard list to both.

They are really one of the best bang for the buck amps out there. Powerful, well built and includes mutiple channels. I have had my Emotiva for 2 weeks now, and it was one of the best purchases I made.

In that case, you would probably want to avoid Best Buy insofar as actually making a purchase. You can go there to audition, but if you find something you like, you'll be able to find that item much cheaper elsewhere or online.
