Another issue to add to the list? Wow. You would think WB/New Line would have put more care into the biggest blu ray catalog release to date These type of QC issues are totally unacceptable IMO, especially for such a huge release........wow. Is this issue present in either the DVD or HDTV version?

With all this fuss over DNR, who's the expert in detecting it more than others, this one's more qualified to give an opinion than that one, blah blah blah.... I offer this: Why dont we all take deep breaths in and out... Relax.... And be thankful that it's going to be out for everyone in less than 14 hours to enjoy... Not analyze the hell out of it, but enjoy it... Unless it looks like an Atari video game, I see no reason to *****... From what Im reading in this thread, It's become more of "Gee, if I can't make out every peice of lint in Gandalf's belly button, then I'm going to pitch a fit!" C'mon guys, relax.... Watch them when you get them and make up your own minds about the film quality. Most are coming across as spoiled brats... Just think of the unfortunate souls who have to enjoy these stories in braile. Do you think they give a whoot about DNR or waxy looking scenes? Ok.. I'm done.... I hope everyone has a great experience watching their Trilogies tomorrow!

Time - 1:01:54

Edit: Occurs again at 1:03:56.

First time for only 2 seconds, second time for about 20.

Lines are very then, but seeing as it is a night scene, when the white one pops up it definitely catches your attention.

It happens again at the 1:11:40 mark and continues all the
way until the 1:12:32 mark. White line on the right and purple
line on the left.

Those of us *****ing are doing so in the realm of the hobby.........does ANY of this have any real significance or meaning in the grand scheme of life in general? Of course not. Movies and HT are a complete and total luxury hobby. Having said that, and being in the realm of the hobby, we have every right to ***** and moan about sub-par releases like this LOTR set (FotR in particular). This is arguably the most anticipated blu ray release to date and considering it got a half ass transfer, we have every right to be disappointed.

The main goal IMO with all the *****ing and moaning is to get a proper transfer for the next edition whatever that may be (I assume the EEs). This may or may not happen, but if ALL of us just keep our mouths shut, then it definitely wont happen, so atleast we are making an effort in whatever way possible.

I love her in Requiem for a Dream. But now she is in bad movies... like really bad movies.

She is still great at what she does!

Thanks. This is amazing to me, but at the same time when you consider the effort that went into the rest of the transfer, not really. Just another sign of the effort, or lack of on this intitial release as far as the PQ goes

They probably don't have a blu-ray setup either. People who invest thousands of dollars into a home theater that produces a reference quality picture and sound don't do so because they like settling for less, and this is the one movie where any accusation of being a "spoiled brat" for demanding a standard of quality that corresponds with the magnitude of the film is utterly ridiculous

Why?
The studio's could just not enable DNR during the mastering process for HD and put a warning on the movie like:
"If you wish not see see grain or fine details, access your TV settings and enable your Digital Noise Reduction setting as needed for your viewing preference."

Several people as AVS have also reported observing the same issues.
Now that people are aware of the time frame of the issues, they can check for themselves.
*Assuming their TV/projector isn't overscanning to push the lines off the screen.

What a blunder Warner has on it's hands. Bad enough there are obvious issues with the PQ that can be overlooked J6P but how did they miss this?

I totally agree with you 100 percent, but are you already disappointed before experiencing it on your system or are you goiing to judge for yourself? I love these movies as much as anyone here, and they deserve the best treatment possible. I havent read any of your previous posts, so I'm not sure if you had the opportunity to view them already... But if you havent, it sounds like youve made up your mind already, billing it as a sub par experience. The only thing hat we truly know based on pro reviews is that Fellowship is a little softer than the other two... Does that warrant saying it's a half ass transfer regarding all 3 films? In my eyes, no. But then again, that's my opinion, and it may not agree with yours... That's cool. All I'm saying is, and I'm not speaking about you, is there's a lot of slams against the release from people who havent even gotten their copies yet. I'm not defending the release either. I havent seen it yet! If it's garbage, then I'll be next to everybody else throwing tomatoes at it! But let's wait til we've all had a chance to see it for ourselves before we crucify it!

I heard nothing about this. I think one of the reviewers would have noticed if this was a widespread problem.

Or that the blu-ray specifications allows for a superior transfer & presentation so people should expect the best. It seems that maybe HD DVD would have been good enough since the studios feel they don't need to utilize the blu-ray specifications to it's full potential.
