It really depends on the movie. Book of Eli and Shutter Island would have been better alone since people were talking during both . But Seeing The Incredible Hulk and X-Men 3 opening nights with tons of fans was fun. It was a good shared experience and we all cheered when the line came "Hulk Smash!!!"

Comedies are also better with people but I rarely see comedies in theaters.

Yeah I'm guessing late sunday showings and early Monday showings are the best. Want to see How to Train Your Dragon again but either with family or alone this time.

I like being in a theater alone. I just sit and watch like normal but love the quiet uninterrupted time.

I have been in theaters with just one other person, that always kinda scares me a bit, because since I have watched too many movies, I always assume they are a serial killer and I will be done before the movie ends. Doesn't affect me watching the movie though, it is just a thought I have.

Yes I was alone for two movies and after watching them I could understand why. They were The Crow 2 and Bio-Dome.
If it's a sad movie though, I think I'd like to be alone as I am emotional and I do cry.
But comedies seem to have more impact the more people there are laughing and I just like to know that other people are sharing the same joke as me and laughing along with it.

What was weird for me in a crowded theater for Superman Returns? The entire audience gave an ovation when the credits rolled! It was like it was some surreal experience... I guess since it was 20+yrs since Christopher Reeve was last onscreen, maybe because he had died, I can't explain it. It gave me goosebumps. I hadn't heard a thunderous applause at the end credits of a film in a long time. That's what I remember most about this film-audiences initially loved it.

Now...

I purposely go to theatres that are not as "big" and see movies on days and times that are not typical. I just cant stand when people sit behind me and kick my chair. Or theres another couple that walks in and sits right next to me. My cousin and gf also prefer watching movies this way.

I like watching movies alone in general. I have only been in the theater alone (well, with my friend) once for Corpse Bride and it was pretty nice. Switching seats was fun and there was no talking whatsoever. A few months ago, I went to see Paranormal Activity with my father and we thought we were going to be alone, as no one showed up throughout the entire duration of the previews. But of course, a bunch of loudmouths came in and were screaming at every scare. If I want to see a movie bad enough, I will usually be able to withstand the aggravation and go to the theater anyway, but I'll usually just wait for the Blu so at least I have minimal disturbances.

The same thing happened to me when I saw ID4 opening day. The audience went absolutely nuts at the end, like we had just watched the greatest movie that could ever be made. I think people get caught up in the moment.

I have my special seat I always sit on, way back and on the furthest right (facing the screen).
Usually there's a 4 or 5 meter distance from the closest person.

I don't like sitting in the middle, where I'm surrounded by people and feel somewhat claustrophobic, and there isn't any cellphone light distracting me.
I actually almost started a trend, my friends came to like the place I usually sit on, kind of funny.

I never like going to the theatre alone. It feels like I don't have any friends. Plus the theatre tickets are getting pretty expensive, so I'd rather wait for the blu-ray and watch it at home because the picture quality sucks at regular theaters anyways.

Excuse my spelling. I'm a little buzzed from Crown Royal.

Depends on what movie I'm watching. I prefer watching alone when watching more serious films but prefer to have company when watching action, comedy or horror.

It was good, walked back and forth a bit too. Honestly the hard chairbacks and concrete floors are uncomfortable so getting up was pleasant.

You are one odd fella

It's funny imagining you walking about alone in a theater.

I've never done it before, the walking around. I usually only get up if I absolutely have to use the bathroom and I think that was only the third time I've been the only person at a viewing.

I was sitting in the cinema by myself and there was only 5-6 people at it when some dude walked in just as the film was about to start and decided to sit right behind me. Needless to say i got a bit freaked and moved to another seat.
