Aside from the commentary and deleted scenes on the UK Blu what other special features are included on the disc itself?

I got the movie in today in the mail , I hope to watch it tonight and reading the specs behind the BD states "Video 1080p HD 16x9 2:4:1" but your saying the octopus scene is 4:3 why would WB Pictures do that?

I haven't watched the UK BD in a while, but the octopus scene was not incorporated back into the movie. It was in the deleted scenes section IIRC.

All of the special features were ported directly from the NTSC DVD. So anything not the original movie is in standard definition.

Thumbs up Goonies Music Score Soundtrack Finally Available

As a side note, this is a heads up for fans of the Goonies and Dave Grusin's music score. Varèse Sarabande is releasing the first ever officially licensed soundtrack album of the COMPLETE Goonies score on March 15th in a limited edition CD available only on their web site! It's up for pre-order now and only 5,000 copies are being produced. You can listen to some sample clips on the pre-order page. Their site also has some of their other limited edition soundtracks still available including Short Circuit, Big, Lucas, Broadcast News, War of the Roses, etc. Click their Soundtrack Club link to see all their exclusive editions. Some of their past limited edition releases like Die Hard and Predator now go for around $200 or more on eBay and Amazon so it's wise to order early on this stuff. They do not ever seem to rerelease or produce more copies once one of their exclusive soundtracks sells out.

You recall correctly. And thank god for them not adding that scene back. It's neat to see but it's a horrible, horrible scene.

I just hope Warner does a good job on the transfer for this release, some of their previous releases, both distant and recent, really have me cautious. The UK release screenshots look good, the only question is will we get that transfer, or something new that could possibly end up looking better...or worse?

can't believe I just saw this thread. I would love to have the soundtrack in the 25th edition. Maybe a Goonies T-Shirt to with a marble bag of jewels and a Gold Coin.

Heck I'll take any box set.

UPDATE:
This comes with 2 x Replica Goonies Magazines, Board game, Photo stills and chunky box with new art work. Not sure about blu-ray extras yet as i think Warners are still trying to source as much as possible.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

“The Goonies” are back.

The iconic 80’s adventure film is getting the star treatment for its 25th anniversary, with a first-time Blu-ray release and an Ultimate Collector’s Edition due November 2.

The film’s traditional DVD has moved 5.5 million copies since its initial release.

The Ultimate Collector’s Edition box includes a “Goonies” board game, collectible storyboard prints, a 1985 souvenir magazine and a 2009 Empire Magazine article on the cast and Richard Donner and Steven Spielberg, who directed and produced the cult classic, respectively.

Beyond its distinguished creative team, the film featured a number of future Hollywood stars, including Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Sean Astin, Martha Plimpton and Kerri Green.

Bonus features will include deleted scenes, a “Making of” documentary, commentary from Donner and the entire cast, and the Cyndi Lauper music video, “The Goonies ‘R Good Enough.”

Along with the anniversary releases, Warner Home Video is also kicking off “The Goonies 25th Anniversary Great Treasure Hunt Sweepstakes,” with a grand prize winner to be chosen in November. For more info on the contest, visit http://www.thegooniesmovie.com.

Thanks for the picture. I do certainly hope Warners add some more extras features rather than simply extra packaging. I hear there are rumours that Warner may add the new documentary made by 2 guys from the goonies website.

Thumbs up Goonies 4 Ever

Fond memories of The Goonies came flooding back as I watched it again this weekend on HDTV. It looks and sounds fantastic so the upcoming Blu-Ray will be nothing short of stunning!

I've never owned GOONIES as well, it's a "Must" pick up.

I know every 80's-summer flick has to be canonized, but...
I guess I'm the only 80's-Summer-of-Love survivor who thought, even back then, it had all the cuddly charm of a Robert Rodriguez kiddy-flick.
It seemed to be made by 10-yo.'s, with every dial turned up to 11.

I'll give Chris Columbus "Gremlins" for the 80's, and I'll give him "Young Sherlock Holmes", but this one just felt like a well-indulged second script.
(And just try saying today that it thought it was being "a movie version of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride" )
