or maybe their mix/master at the studio was already downmixed to 5.1 channels with the center rear matrixed, so they just used that master rather than remixing? |

I would assume they used a Dts 6.1 es matrix track,as this is pretty much the same as the Dolby digital 5.1 ex track found on the dvd's.
They did make it Master audio though, and lets be fair most Dts Master audio tracks found on Blu-ray discs are 5.1. Most peoples recievers convert to 7.1 anyway. Last edited by jonmoz; 04-07-2010 at 10:03 PM. |

There's one thing I dont get at all. How come that it is cheaper here in Canada than in the U.S.? Regular edition: 49.99 canadian here.
Best Buy with sword; Future Shop with Steel Case and Wal-Mart with ring and chain are 55.99 |

A true DTS-MA 6.1 discrete would be something like X-MEN: The Last Stand |

and this is one reason why the studios will keep mucking up titles. its all about the money.if enough people who complained really didn't buy it, maybe the studios would make more of an effort, maybe.

Right now I don't have anything to put my digital copies on. Can I put them on my crapy computer then tranfer them later on to a laptop or Ipod?. Im know LOTR doesn't expire till April 4, 2011 but I have other movies that might still be active. I was thinking of buying a cheap flash drive and putting them on their for awhile. Anything on digital copies will be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou. |

I posted some screenshots of LOTR: The Two Towers over in the screenshots forum.
Here is the Link Overall, it was better than the first one. Although a little inconsistent, there were some scenes that were especially sharp and detailed. ![]() |

you may have to put up with some grain, but the result is detail, something dnr destroys. as long as studios take short cuts were gonna keep having theses debates. the sad part is the studios really don't care about what or how we want to view our blu-ray movies. they only understand dollars and cents. if sales come in low on this trilogy they will look for the cause.if the sales come in big they will just move on to the next project. history shows so far that even when the studio mucks up movies like this [gladiator, startrek first 6 movies, gangs of newyork, and now lotr trilogy] people buy them anyways. the ee's won't be any better as well as when paramount does the directors cuts on statrek. why should they be.people never learn and can't ignore the temptation to buy subpar blu-rays until people like you me can give the studio a big middle finger to subpar blu-rays like lotr trilogy and not buy them, noting will change. i love this format and its fun to own a piece of history in hi-def,but not like this. |

Well pointed out PeterTHX,it's a 5.1 track,it is confusing as it even states 6.1 Master audio on the disc menu.
But of course neither the menu or the box tell you whether its 6.1 matrix or discrete,i had to put the disc on my system to check. It's just when i watched this last sound came through all my seven spekers, but this is because i always use the Thx Ultra sound mode,i needed to check on the Onkyo recievers display to how many channels were in use. Thanks again Peter. Last edited by jonmoz; 04-07-2010 at 11:15 PM. |

We always talk about what we like better about the extended version but what do people here like better about the theatrical versions?
I'll list mine: 1. Flows better and gets going out of the gate quicker without the concerning hobbits part. 2. No Aragorn singing. 3. Less Gimli jokes 4. Less Merry and Pippin jokes. |

Anyone else notice a white line on the far right of the screen during the river scene with Arwen and the water horses? It's there for about 8-10 seconds. I have my Kuro settings on dot by dot which is pixel for pixel resolution. Its definitely there and seems to bee some kind of digital error.
