I hope this isn't a preview. Sounds pretty biased.

dont panic on the small stuff....

Disney is proving that they are making a bigger and bigger push. Warner is doing the same... the ads will come, the news will hit.

That article is biased. Throws Warner Brothers on the HD DVD side and doesn't mention them on the Blu-Ray side.

Edit: looks like u beat me to it Musashi

I didn't see any bias. I think he brought up the talking points from both sides.

I missed time warner relating to warner brothers. Are they related?

You're joking right? Please point any pro-BD or anti-HD-DVD points there.

Looks to be in blu-ray's favor to me:

"The fact is, Blu-ray's top argument is its penetration in the marketplace thanks to its inclusion in Sony's Playstation. The numbers on their face seem impressive: Home Media Magazine says Blu-ray sold 2.6 million discs between January and September, compared to 1.4 million HD-DVD disks during that time. Blu-ray revenue is beating HD-DVD revenue by better than 2 to 1."

Just because an article doesn't say what people want doesn't make it biased.

Oh please, then his HD-DVD friend calls for the next sentence:

Quote:
I got an email this morning from a PR firm representing key HD-DVD companies pointing me to a recent NPD survey showing that an astonishing 60% of Playstation3 owners weren't even aware the console had a Blu-ray player in it!

Funny how you left off the last part of the paragraph which changes the context of what's he saying. Now why would you do that?

But momentum is clearly swinging HD-DVD's way.

Actually, a lot of HD DVD fans have been talking that point long before the cheap players were announced. Just view any of the nielsen threads, mostly at other sites, to see how they spin that. I took him to be talking the same line since no one knows what effect the cheap HD DVD players are going to have yet.

Basically the comment here: The numbers on their face seem impressive leads me to believe that since he's essentially saying, on the surface it looks good but if you dig deeper you'll find, etc.. I'm not sure how people can spin blu-ray winning week after week or a 2:1 advantage.

'Your' forum, lol.

If you call momentum a bunch of HD-DVD fanboys getting into a tizz over a discounted, clearance HD-DVD player on internet forums momentum, I guess your correct.

I'll stick to listening to industry insiders, who know whats going on the behind the scenes, and watching the impact of mainstream ads and marketing from the likes of Disney and Sony with the new 40GB PS3.

As I've stated, it's one of those small, insignificant, victories they thrive upon, like a cult.

They stick their head in the sand singing la, la, la to what's happening in the real world.

I concur. How about this: http://www.homemediamagazine.com/new...ticle_id=11449 This was a link from blu-raydisc.com, and may also explain why we're starting to see BD exclusive commercials...

that article is pretty funny.

"I got an email this morning from a PR firm representing key HD-DVD companies pointing me to a recent NPD survey showing that an astonishing 60% of Playstation3 owners weren't even aware the console had a Blu-ray player in it!"

wouldn't this actually be a good thing for blu-ray if they already have a 2-1 advantage in software sales lead and once those 60% realize they have a blu-ray, just increase the lead even more??

"That same email points to how successful the movie "Transformers" has been on HD DVD, its exclusive platform release, selling a 100,000 copies its first day, 190,000 in its first week. "

lies!!!! lol, poor guy.

"And another rough issue for Sony, backing Blu-ray, which still has some key partners in Disney, 20th Century Fox and Lions Gate. HD-DVD enjoys Paramount, Dreamworks and Time Warner."

umm...Sony has Warner also. nice journalism.

great point krispy, what an idiot journalist, if he wanted to make his case he should have had his HD-DVD pole people manufacture a survey that said "despite 99% of PS3 owners using their device as a blu-ray player, and thus more players by a ratio of ___, the disc sales lead ratio is only ___"...what a dumb $#%#, thanks for making OUR TALKING POINTS

They need to do some better fact checking on your article.

WB is a neutral studio not a HD exclusive.

And the survey they reported on with 60% of PS3 owners not knowing of the blu-ray player is 3 months old. So hardly what would be called breaking news.

As to the sales numbers for Transformers there is so much conflicting info out there. That according to most companies the number they sited was the number of units shipped not sold.

Nope nothing wrong here.

I noticed there was no mention of Universal being HDDVD exclusive? Could this massive price cut maybe (hopefully) be on the heels of a universal studios announcement.

Lets Hope!!
