I just don't think all people see it. I have friends that don't really see a difference between upscaled DVDs (and hi-def) or at least enough to make a switch to hi-def. When they were visiting recently, I was showing them a SD TV show and HD TV show by just switching the inputs. So, it was the same show, just one looked much, much better. They didn't see the big deal and didn't think it was any better than their digital cable quality on a standard def (26") TV. The only real thing they noticed was that it was widescreen and they were impressed by the size of the screen. Nothing about how clear the picture was or how much detail you could see in the picture. Of course, since they're getting kind of old, maybe they couldn't see the picture all that well.
