This is my first post. I love this site. This is in one of my top 5 films off all time. Interesting points users have made regarding the Criterion audio. I had no idea. If the BD audio and video is superior than the Criterion, it's a no brainer. Its films like this one I have no trouble double or triple buying for. I'll be picking this one up at BB today since its on sale for 20.00. I have to say though that the packaging on the Criterion version is one of my most treasured DVD's. If Criterion ever comes out with their BD version of this (I doubt) I'll be picking up that one too.

Blu-ray Samurai

Drugs and alcohol are the lubricant that keeps the adventure rolling, but it is the Trip (no pun intended) that exposes the end product of the sixties as a disillusioned public that thought they were getting free love and enlightenment, but were disappointed to find they got Polyester and Helter Skelter human tragedy instead. Fueled by Thompson's aversion to authority and distain for Richard Nixon, The story is of the last desperate grasp to hold on to a Free America - to live the American Dream, chock full of "Rugged Individualism". Instead, Thompson finds an America waking up from a dream and into a Nightmare of cheap drinks, Hawaiian shirts, and apathy. The mind-altering substances are the train that keeps the journey rolling... not the journey itself. Cheers, Doc |

I'm considering pulling the trigger on this one, but mixed reviews have me skeptical (particularly about PQ? And sad to see no extras...). I like this movie alright, but it's nowhere near my favorite or anything. Anybody who owns this care to weigh in on if it's a good purchase for the $17? Should I make this a priority?

I just watched the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas blu-ray I picked up, I really enjoyed the quality, certainly a notch up from the Criterion DVD. Heartily recommended.
