We watched The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus last night, and really liked it. Good transfer to BD too.

It is a good example of Terry Gilliam's work. And I am a big fan of Tom Waits, so having him and his voice in the movie doesn't hurt a bit.

Four stars out of five.

+1. very boring and dumb movie. Only a little entertaining if you watch it drunk or with a lot of friends.

Completely agree; I gave it 1 star too. One of the worst films I've ever seen, and I do like films like 40 Year Old Virgin and Superbad.

I just watched Zak and Miri last night for the first time. Terrible film...there were three funny parts at the begining that made me laugh and thats it. I also agree that Pineapple Express was a dumb film as well.

Toy Story (blu)

PQ: 5 (out of 5)

AQ: 4.5 (out of 5)

Film: 3 stars (out of 4)

A very high quality blu, although the sound isn't as good as other Pixar films. Overall, Toy Story is a good but not great film (irrespective of its influence). Both story-wise and especially thematically, it just isn't up to par with later Pixar films such as Up and Ratatouille. It could be because of its 81 minute run time, but I think it has more to do with the fact that it's a fun film and well-written, but just really doesn't have a thematic point to it.

Ugly Truth - Now this was a damn good romantic/comedy. I dont know how it got so many bad reviews thus another reason why I could careless about reviews. It had all the elements required for this type of film. Very good acting, great chemistry, very funny, and very good story. I didnt think it wouldve been this good and I was greatly surprised. I will add this to my collection no doubt.
[Show spoiler]The restaurant scene with the panty vibrator was hilarious!
Its sumthin about Katherine Heigl that I like also. She isnt the finest woman out there but its still sumthin about her that gets me. Gerard is absolutely hilarious in this as well and it shows his versatility as an actor. Very good film and I would recommend it. Overall I would rate it 4/5 Got Em!!

I agree. A little raunchy, a little dopey, a little bit sassy. A great mix of silly, stereotype elements and moments. Its a romantic comedy for crying out loud. They have been silly since Doris Day made films in the 1940s and 1950s. I really cracked up at the
[Show spoiler]jello wrestling part.

Cliches? Yes! But the chemestry brought it to life and made it work for me.

My current top 10 on netflix is:

1) Up in the Air
2) Strangers on a Train
3) Wings of Desire
4) Snow Angels
5) 8 1/2
6) La Dolce Vita
7) The Bicycle Thief
8) Broken Embraces
9) Rope
10) The Piano

Granted I've already seen half of those films once, but I feel some need to be revisited. I'll get there soon

She does prefer my birthday suit...but drycleaning bills are ridiculous these days, in sunny South Florida.

great show.
so what do you think of it?

i think my only complaint is
[Show spoiler]how all the episodes are set up exactly the same: opens with an odd beginning, cops come and are confused, get Walter and his team, Walter knows / works on solution, team investigates and wraps up odd happening
but somehow even with this minor flaw, it doesn't ruin the show at all and at times i forgot about it or just didn't really care until i thought back on it.

I get what you are saying but i like that. The surprise is the actual event and how they are all linked with each other. I think its a great sci-fi tv show. Very suspenseful. It kept you wanting to see the next episode. I loved how it ended!!! SO MANY QUESTIONS lol.

Incredible Hulk

In the world of comic book movies this one stands second to only The Dark Knight imo.

The acting overall is strong (Tyler could have been better) and highlighted by Norton's fantastic portrayal of Banner. Roth, Hurt and Nelson were all very good/solid in their roles.

I thought the writing of the movie was quite good (whoever that credit goes too, Penn for the original script or Norton for the re-writes), the action scenes are great (especially the campus one) and I loved the look of the film.

I thought they did a heck of a job with not just Banner or just Hulk but with both sides of the coin. I thought it was very effective in making you feel for the characters and Banner's fight with his alternate persona. When Betty mentions trying to get Hulk under control and Banner snaps at her and proclaims that he "doesn't want to control it!" that he "wants to get rid of it!" is a great example of how much he really hates what is inside of him and what he has done while in that state at that point in the movie.
And on the Hulk side his short 3 words
[Show spoiler]in the factory when fighting the workers and the soldiers
"Leave me alone..." pretty much sums up what he wants in this film...
[Show spoiler]but never gets even after he stops the Abomination at the end of the film.

Rating: 5/5

PQ - 5/5
A great looking BD. Maybe not among the absolute best out there, but very high up on the quality scale.

AQ - 5/5
In my collection it only trails Terminator Salvation in audio quality....nuff said.

Michael Clayton.

I just caught this on the telly, so no PQ or AQ rating and I caught it about 30 min. in so I did not watch the whole movie.
But that didn't stop my from watching this, I quickly checked the plot summary of the movie to get into to it so to say and I got to say that it is a very solid movie.
Great performances and I really like the casting, Tilda Swinton was great and finally she didn't play the usual witch/evil woman, altough Sidney Pollack is really playing the same role as his Eyes Wide Shut role, but I still like it. A very intense thriller/drama about a guilt-ridden atorney that decides to make a case against an agrochemicals company instead of defending it, the company that would do anything to cover up their cancer inducing chemicals that has affected some 400 people. Michael Clayton is left trying to fix the whole situation with the atorney, as Michael has no other choice as he's knee deep in debt trying to cover for his brother.

[Show spoiler]The real hero in this movie is really the atorney Arthur Edens (played by Tom Wilkinson) and Michael Clayton (Clooney) though the main character, not exactly a very likeable character, his redeeming quality would be that he really cared for his brother, though a greedy "fixer" as was the atorney Arthur initially, this movie would really be about redemption. But in Claytons case it's only after they attempt to take Claytons life he really decides to take the "good path". I guess that is why I don't really see him as the hero, but rather a character that only really cares about himself in the end.

8/10
If you like talky thriller/drama movies, this should be an easy rent for you. great performances, great score, good script, well just very good overall.
Recommended.

Wow this movie took me totally by surprise. Quentin is the man. The movie had any and everything you can look in for a movie. Very deep and impressive. I like this movie a lot. It would be right under Red Cliff and my Martial Arts War Movies

Movie 5/5
PQ 4/5
AQ 4/5
Overall 4.5/5
