You could try getting the OPPO 83 player on eBay or from an authorized retailer. You can search google for some region free modifications (which may require some physical handiwork).

I ordered Shaolin Soccer last week from .uk too. The order is still on the way. Fortunately I can rip the blu-ray with AnyDvD, and play it on my TV via HDMI. It's still too much hassle.

Default Blu's under 10 pounds

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s?ie=UTF8&bb...rd_i=293962011

I don't know if anyone has checked it out or know about this? But I found some pretty good deals. Casino Royale is like $10 cnd. Air force one is about $15cnd. Remember the price at check out is always cheaper then in basket!

I have ordered from them before, and have never been hit. I usually limit my purchases to two each time. But this time I ordered 5 and I hope I won't get hit. I think you don't have to pay duty if your purchase is under $30cnd (I could be wrong).

so I finally broke down and placed an order for District 9, Moon and Snatch. Each movie came out to less what was listed on the site (for example Moon came to £8.50 instead of £9.99), posting and packaging is about 5 pounds, no VAT (wtf?) was included, and the total is under £30.

Now to play the waiting game..... ahhh the waiting game sucks LET'S PLAY HUNGRY HUNGRY HIPPOS!!!

i've ordered 3 times...each time above 100.00 canadian.

i had to pay duties on 2 of the 3 orders....

the duties i've had to pay has been only taxes...

all 3 times it was shipped via UPS and usually ups the worst to deal with duties

VAT is only charged if you ship it to the countries that have VAT....taxes are charged based on where a shipment goes to. Thats why if i buy furniture in Gatineau and pick it up right away i get charged both taxes but if i get it delivered in Ottawa i dont pay both taxes (go figure...i just pay one of the two)

as for amazon.co.uk all prices you see on their website is with VAT applied...sine they cant charge you VAT they take it off later in the order process....it all evens out in the end because i find shipping cost is about the same as the VAT saved...

I have ordered 5 times from them also. Only once was my order over $20 cnd and I guess I got lucky. I didn't get hit. This time my order is $60 cnd. I do hope I get lucky with this order.

That means I pay duty on almost everything domestically.

I placed three separate orders for boxsets. I was charged ~$28-29 CAD for each. I wasn't hit with duties on any of them. I guess customs allows some wiggle room or it's simply YMMV.

it definitely is. my friend has placed the same/ if not more orders from them than me and he has only paid duty once or twice. its stupid for canadas limit to be $20/day anyway whereas the us limit is $200/day. they just love to screw us royally over here

For the first time ever, I ordered from Amazon.uk in April due to their great sales. Placed 5 separate orders for a total of 9 BDs (including Band of Brothers and Planet Earth boxsets, which shipped together in one order). Some were shipped Royal Mail and others via DHL. Received all of them over the past two weeks - no duty on any. I'm not sure, but as one poster stated a while back, maybe it's better to break up the orders into smaller packages than have them all in one order in a bigger box?
