Great episode, seems like we say that every week. I thought Hank was a goner. I agree with everyone else that AMC showing a preview of next week before this week's show was over was a strange move.
[Show spoiler]
I have to guess that was Gus warning Hank about the twins coming in one minute. He wanted to get rid of the twins and that was the best way to do it.

Yep, this is why I don't watch tv shows on tv. Sitting through commercials is bad enough but when something like this happens, then it's just bullshit.

AMC's screwup aside, what a great episode. It almost feels like every episode is a season finale because of the awesome build ups they create and the anticipation that the viewers have to endure. Those last minutes had me tense as hell.

Those final moments had me yelling at the tv for Hank to stop being such a hard ass and get the **** out of there. I was in complete and utter shock in those final minutes, and my jaw hit that floor when that
[Show spoiler]black talon hollowed out the cousins skull

How is nobody talking about the final showdown right now!!!! The last few moments where the most intense scene of the entire series and my jaw still hasn't picked itself back up off the floor.

Holy f----- s---

That ending was goddamn brilliant filmmaking I thought last week's scene with Hank trying to get in the RV was intense, but this just blew my mind. I too was yelling at the TV, and I cannot remember when I last did that. The thing is I couldn't make up my mind whether or not they'd actually let Hank die, that made the whole thing even more effective. And everything leading up to that was equally amazing. From Hank beating the crap out of Jesse, opening up to Marie(how great was that scene on the bed?), not fighting his suspension and believing things might start to get better from here on out, to the harsh destruction of those dreams, this was an incredible journey for his character. I'm stunned at how compelling this guy has become, I mean who would've thought that this goofy cop would at some point almost make me shed a tear?

So much happened, impossible to talk about it all. What I wonder, of course, is who was the guy that warned Hank? And if Walt got rid of Gale because he suspected that he's just there to learn and be able to copy his recipe, or if he only did it because he needed Jesse back to calm him about the Hank thing.

A perfect episode, and whatever happens in the remaining six, I have a feeling it's going to blow our minds.

When the show began I never thought I'd find myself caring for Hank, but this season has been a tour de force performance by Dean Norris. He has made us all care about him, and just like you I too was on the edge of my seat screaming "No, you can't kill Hank!!" But they sure as hell set it up like that is exactly what was gonna go down.

My believe is that it was Gus on the other end of the phone, he did not like the fact that the cousins would not listen to him, but he also gave up Hank's name and to me it seemed almost like a setup. He wants to rule the entire drug trade and by taking out Tio's henchmen he doesn't have anymore enforcers or really any protection now. So my guess is that Gus is making a major power play.

In regards to Gale, I also believe it had nothing to do with Gale at all or Walt being worried about him taking his recipe. It seemed more to me about self-preservation than anything else. Jesse calling Walt his "get out of jail free card" and telling him he would give him up to save himself seemed like a come to Jesus moment for Walt, so Walt created that problem with Gale based on nothing more than needing to bring Jesse back into the fold to keep himself safe. We all know Walt is a man who now only cares about himself and his power so to me the move with Jesse is still all about protecting Walt.

But those are just my thoughts on that.

I agree, the ending of the episode was amazing, and definitely one of the highlights of the series. Now I am wondering who was on the phone
[Show spoiler]Walt or Gus?
and the whole Gale situation--he just seems to amiable to be genuine, so I'd be surprised if he didn't have some ulterior motive, even if only indirectly.

Another thing: Did everybody notice, way back in episode 2 or 3, the radio announcement
[Show spoiler]that John De Lancie's character, the air-traffic controller and Jesse's girlfriend's dad, had shot himself, which Walt turns off in horror/disgust mid-sentence
? Do we think any definitive answer will come of that tidbit?

Well as I've stated a few times previously, my belief is it was Gus. There's no way it was Walt, because he wasn't even aware of the cousins, or had any contact with them to know they where coming. Gus is the man who sent them after Hank, and my belief is it was a setup. Nobody but Gus had knowledge they where comin.

I finally caught up on all the episodes last night. Damn this show gets intense!!! I was getting a little bored with this season in the begining. I wonder if Hank is going to survive. I was throwing a fit at the tv, when he was just sitting in his car after the phone call. What an ending!!!

Oh there's no way Hank dies now, they just established him as the show's biggest bad ass!

Hank and Jesse or Norris and Paul probably get Emmy noms from just this episode alone. I was worried about Jesse this season because his story seemed to be going nowhere and then this episode he shines and is back in true Jesse form.

I know, during his hospital bed speech about ruining Hank's life he was so damn intense, I just kept waiting "For your Emmy Consideration, Aaron Paul" to start flashing on my screen during that entire segment, lol.

You kidding me? That guy started on hell of a bar fight and also finished it, took 4 bullets and still managed to drop in the round, rack the slide, and fire off a kill shot. John McClane can suck his c0ck!

still i really dont think the writers are trying to portray him as a badass...part of the reason why this show is so awesome is its complex characters...

The way he got out of this recent situation I would call badass, but he himself is a broken man. Like I said, his confession to Marie about his true feelings and struggles almost made me shed a tear.

He should at least get nominated for an Emmy this year. Alan Sepinwall said it how it is though in last week's podcast, it probably won't happen.

He may be broken but you can still kick ass when you're down. Have you people learned nothing from 13 Rocky films?

Far as the Emmy's go it's all politics. They will continue to give emmy's away to that Mad Men, which puts me into comas, but will never give any to the cast Sons of Anarchy which after Katey Sagal's performance in Season 2 is a god damned shame. Therefore the Emmy's can suck it!

Meh, I think Mad Men is great. I admire it more than I enjoy it though, and I can understand that you say it puts you into comas. But there's something that just fascinates me and keeps pulling me back in. I guess part of it is the wonderful set design and whatnot, and well.. the writing, which I think is wonderful as well. Not much story there though, I guess that's the issue for most.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind if this year someone else would take home the Emmy. Breaking Bad perhaps...

You're right though, it's all politics. At least the nomination process is, because when it comes down to determine the winner, the voters have to actually watch the submitted episodes.
And you're also right about Katey Sagal of course.

Something on a entirely different note, I just saw that the BrBa Blu-rays aren't selling nearly as well as the DVDs at Amazon.com. I will go crazy if Sony ends up dropping the Blu's. Wouldn't be the first time.

I've started the season of Mad Men 3 or 4 times, and before its over, I find myself reaching for my .45, lol. It just makes me want to rip my hair out. The Emmy's act like it's the greatest show on television, but NOTHING happens.....I try and I try to watch it, and I just find myself slipping into comas or having suicidal tendencies......

Well they prices on those Blu's are ridiculous! I won't pay $30 for 7 episodes of anything, come on drop it down to $20 atleast.
