Hong Kong Where's the True Legend Blu-ray release?

How come True Legend hasn't gotten a Bluray release yet? The DVD is already out now, but no sign of the Bluray version. It's strange. I thought every chinese movies nowadays gets a Bluray release. This movie deserves the high-def treatment. Does anyone know why it hasn't gotten a Bluray release yet?

Edko is a bizarre HK studio. They have a low output of Blu-rays and seem to be sitting on all their good titles (TL, Hero, HoFD). I have a feeling it won't be coming anytime soon unless a UK/US studio picks it up.

Aww, dam. That's really disappointing because I was really hoping to watch this movie in High-def. Now I gotta have to settle for the low-res DVD. Now that you mentioned it, I just noticed that Edko only has 4-5 Bluray release out right now. That's really pathetic on their part. Now, who's going to release 'em if Edko's not going to? Really disappointing. Now I'm glad they're not distributing the upcoming Ip Man 2.

In HK, noone. Edko just sits on them and they never get released. There are 4 other ways a Blu-ray release of True Legend could happen:
1) ShowBox-Cineasia (UK) release
2) Magnolia-Magnet (US) release
3) A Taiwan Distributor (preferably Deltamac) release
4) A Mainland China Distributor (such as HEC) release

Other than that, there is still a chance that Edko might release it somewhere down the line, but given their odd choices as to what they release on Blu and their slow rate of output, I would not hold my breath for a HK version anytime soon sadly.

And on top of that, the DVD of True Legend is R3 which does not play in my Sony. Luckily I never got rid of my region free Helios player.

It is so strange how the UK get all these awesome Asian release. In US, we tend to get the screwed up release. =(

it's a fairly recent thing. although there has long been one or two films from across asia that have not drawn attention because, until a couple of years back, america simply dominated in subbing asian films (as far as non-asian territories were concerned). these days though, as you've said, there's actually a fair few making it out in the UK - often on DVD and BD - and fairly close to the original releases in their home territories (especially if it's HK or korea). interesting how this has all shifted around a little - i now find HK is better for a realistic & contemporary range of japanese films than anywhere else.

Does anyone know the proper language in this film Cantonese or Mandarin, the Uk version seems to be Mandarin only.

the HK dvd version has both cantonese and mandarin, I usually prefer the cantonese track anyway since I can understand it.
