My copy of M arrived today! So excited, I actually haven't had the opportunity to see it ever yet, but it was a definite must blind buy. Question though, there is an English version included, but the Blu review states that the English version is 93 minutes long, yet the back of the case states that the (German) film is 110 minutes long. Was the English version censored? Does anyone know why? I'm assuming that the English version is simply dubbed, but I can't imagine that there's 17 minutes that would be censored, especially since 1931 would be pre-Hays Code. Anyone know the history of this?

How does the Amazon pre-order guarantee work? Oshima is now $3 cheaper then when I pre-ordered it but it has not dropped in price on my order list. I got it back when I had my trial of prime so that is why I dont want to just reorder it because I will lose my free two day shipping.
Are you supposed to contact Amazon and have them change the price? Because that would be a pretty stupid pre-order guarantee. |

A little off-topic,
I am going to be p***** if those Wes Anderson loving facebook people on Criterion's page makes Criterion not release any more Marco Ferreri films due to them posting Dillinger is Dead is the worst release of the year. That's bull. It's one of the best. Should of had a blu release. |

I am just going to explain this once on my part,
1. Films like Dillinger is Dead was never released in the U.S. before Criterion did. 2. I can go right now and get a film like Darjeeling Limited or Thin Red Line at any store around me. No need for a Criterion release then, right? The only ones who want those Wes Anderson movies are just in it for the "Criterion" name. If they were not, then they would be happy with the other dvds that is out for those movies like I would if Dillinger is Dead was released before. I want Criterion to release stuff, because of the fact no one else will ever do so. Don't be greedy people. Now, having said all of that, my opinion of it, I don't look for people to turn this into a 3-page love fest. Just how I see things. Last edited by SpiderBaby; 05-11-2010 at 09:02 PM. |

In my case, I was just talking about dvds, since Dillinger is a non-blu as well.
But I don't mind Wes Anderson films in the collection, as long as they don't push out a film that has never been released, since like I said, I can find a Wes Anderson film (dvd) anywhere. Just what I was getting at. I just don't want to see Criterion not release things like Dillinger due to people wanting re-releases of things. Dillinger is Dead will tick people off. It's not the mainstream, brainwashing way of Hollywood filmmaking. It's something different. Fresh. I don't want to see Criterion not release things like that. That is what Criterion is for. If they wanted to make big money, they should of never got into the arthouse world. |

![]() My personal favorite Luis Buñuel in the Criterion Collection is a toss-up between "That Obscure Object Of Desire" and "Diary Of A Chambermaid." I wish that "Simon Of The Desert" had the finances to be finished, as well. Other than "Belle de jour," I haven't seen any Buñuel films outside the Criterion Collection, so if you have any suggestions, CG, feel free to unload them on me. CC |
