Or The Last Metro. Or Last Year at Marienbad.

But Emperor is my guess, too.

Kicked off by "Walkabout" it seems like Amazon is cycling through quite a few Criterion titles on sale recently.... I wonder if they're price-matching someone???? I know Best-Buy had The 400 Blows for $18.....

Well, just remember, too, that the Amazon deal right now is for the 4-disc standard DVD release of "The Last Emperor." This isn't for the blu-ray.

Not actually, but you always seem to want to get the last word in. See if you can resist this time.

There is one Eclipse set that is OOP (thanks to Studio Canal), but still available for the time being. It's the only one I've gone through, but personally liked it very much: Carlos Saura's Flamenco Trilogy. So if you have any interest in that, you may be able to get a good deal via Criterion's website (w/the coupon mentioned recently and the seemingly still in place extra discount for the expired Studio Canal titles).

I'd love to see this on Blu-ray but Criterion lost the license years ago.

Hey kids,

So since the interest is just overwhelming, I thought I'd share that I received my Russian BD of Andrei Rublev today, though it arrived on Thursday (5/13) and I wasn't around to sign for it. Took 17 days from the date of order to package received and cost $21 total to the USA. English subtitles are the only subtitles provided. It does seem that Kniga.ru source items they ship, so your item may take a couple of days to arrive to them before they pack it an ship it.

The shrink-wrapped Blu-ray came bubble-wrapped and inside a cardboard packing sleeve which itself was wrapped with tape, and the whole thing was inside a Russian Post "bag" style package which was entirely sealed and showed no evidence of customs tampering.

Kniga.ru did not provide any sort of tracking and as far as their site knows, this item is still with the Russian Post. When I inquired as to the status of the item, I did receive a brief, seemingly translated response in English on one occasion, which seemed to state that they were waiting for the Russian Post to provide a tracking number, but by and large, do not expect Kniga.ru to be able to assist you with orders in English.

It looks great in 1080p, and I'm going to watch it soon.

Wow... Last Emperor for $27.99. I think I paid $18 or $19 for it new. Even Amazon's goldbox "deals" on Criterion suck these days.

Was your copy the 4-disc DVD set, which is what the GoldBox deal is for, or are you referring to the blu-ray version that you paid $18/$19?

Thanks for the update. I was thinking about your order the other day and forgot to ask. 17 days is not too bad. Can you post the link to the order site again? $21.00 is definitely doable.
