I really hope this is remastered because if it is I will definitely be getting it. I have held out on buying the first one for so long that it now looks like it might be worth it.

Apparently it's been confirmed that it IS getting a new transfer - So with that excellent cover art and shiny new PQ, all I can say is... Day One buy!

New transfer could just mean an AVC-encode rather than the MPEG-2 encode the first edition had. Which means it would look the same.

After reading the less then favorable reviews of the previous Blu-Ray I held off and kept my DVD. With an new transfer and hours of extras this is a Predator Blu-Ray worth owning.

Excellent news about the new transfer. Hopefully AVC + some extra breathing room on a BD50 will give us some improvement. I'm not one who really cares about cover artwork, but this one does look great.

I paid 30+ tax at best buy a few years back before I started buying from amazon and the transfer wasnt even that great. That is some BS!!!!

You're talking about new encode, which could be from the same transfer, it's a totally different process.

From what I understand a new transfer requires going back to re-scanning the film negatives to get a new DI.

The words are they're doing a new transfer, not just a new encode. So we could see a somewhat different look with this new release.

Anyway, I own the old release and I'm fine with the PQ.

That's just wishful thinking. If it's coming from the same source as the last disc, it will look the same. Unless they use digital manipulation to make it more "HD shiny", for people that don't like grain.

Wow, that pretty good news. A new transfert means it will be improved. Why ? Because the current transfert is 10 years + old. In computer terms, it's the dark ages. Also telecine Spirit etc have much improved since then.

New transfer or not, I just can't see this movie looking THAT MUCH better than the current version. I'll probably pass, unless every review site gives it a perfect score across the board.
