I bet SONY will sell between 300,000 to 450,000. Thats a heck of a lot more than the so called 90,000 HD-DVD players that Toshiba discounted to compete with the PS3 40g.
What do you guys think the sales of the PS3 40g will be? Last edited by Porfie; 11-07-2007 at 01:52 AM. Reason: other |

This might not mean much but I routinely look on Amazon.com (twice a day) and check the top 100 video game sellers and the 80 gig version has consistantly been several notches above the 40 gig version this past week. I think the 80 gig might sell more than the 40.

If Sony does well, hopefully they'll sell about 1.5 PS3s in November/December.
Of course we know the PS3 installed base does not move the same ratio of discs as standalones. I suspect by year end the PS3 sales will counteract cheap HD DVD players, and we'll be left with about the same sales ratio as we see now. If we see significant deals on Blu Ray standalones perhaps we'll gain some ground. |

I picked up the new ps3 40 gig last friday. I have to say, looking at BB for example over the weekend, they had half a pallet of the 80 gig ps3 on the floor and stacks and stacks of x-box 360's in about 3 locations in the store. Alot of the Halo 3 versions!

IT doesn't matter as you can see in the amazon rankings hd dvd really isn't making an impact having those extra 90k players especially since those dumbasses that already had an hd dvd player probably went and picked them all up before a new person did.

It's hard to believe MS actually sold 525,000 defective units during that month.

well its a 20% price cut.....
Normally they sell 100k odd a month right. I would say the increase might be 50%, so take it took 150k amonth. So that is like 35k or thereabouts for the week. |

I don't think it will sell well for two reasons 1)Sony said they are limiting production on the 40GB and, more importantly 2)for $100 more the 80GB is a supremely better value. 2x HDD Space, Backwards Compatability, SACD Support, and one of the best PS3 games all for the cost of discontinued dud player.
Either way, you get a great value. Heck, the XBOX 360 costs $280 for their basic version and $350 for their higher end version so essentially you are only paying $120-$150 for a Blu Ray Player. ![]() Although, I do have to admit, I did by one of the $100 dud players (don't kill me ![]() ![]() *hugs 60GB PS3* |

I'm with you. The PS3 will probably sell a bit better than last month, but I think the best we can hope for is 2x last month's volume (which I believe was a little above 120k?). That said, if the number is anywhere near 240k, I would consider that pretty good considering how few of the PS3's big titles have been released to date.

Thing is, all those PS3 wont be used for BD Movies, just a tiny number of them but the 99$ HD DVD player instead will be used for HD DVD movies, that is FACT!
HD DVD sold almost 90.000 player in one weekend! HOW can the BDA conter this? ![]() http://www.videobusiness.com/article/CA6498141.html |

The PS3, if it sells in large volumes, may help counteract and keep the status quo. |
