i am getting this for 80 its blu-ray movie playback. i am surprised to see that it only has 1 hdmi port. obviously i would use this to connect to my 1080 tv but what about my surround sound which has hdmi ports? what would be the optimum way to connect this? dont hate me cos im stupid just help if you can cheers guys (please speak to me in basic terms) |

so our saying the signal from the ps3 will have to pass through the surround sound then to the tv? is that wise - will there be any loss/delay in information?
what are my other options? if any thanks for the advice |

There won't be a loss, the entire point is to have audio/video running through one high definition cable. So the receiver is just a passthrough point for the video.
I have my HDMI cable going from my PS3 to my receiver, and then an HDMI cable going from my receiver to my projector...always looks and sounds amazing. |

you're talking about a digital signal here, a signal that's probably not gonna go more than 4 feet of cable... what loss are you concerned about?? you have no other options of getting video/audio using one cable to one HDMI port on your tv, unless you have an optical input in your reciever and optical output on your player, but then, you would be limited to 5.1 channels.

Ah, then yes...you'll have to use the optical output, which the PS3 has as well.

then optical is the the best bet in your situation. HDMI to TV/Optical to Receiver... again, only DD 5.1

My receiver gives me some issues with the video output though, so I'm going to also just call JVC and yell at them about it or something... I want to get a different receiver, but I didn't get this one that long ago...so...it's going to be a while, probably another year or two when I also upgrade to a 1080p projector. |

No worries. My receiver is 9 years old (but works great) and I have optical to the receiver and HDMI to the TV. Works fine. Once I upgrade the receiver I will run HDMI from PS3 to Receiver and Receiver to TV. |
