Default Settled on the Sony BDP-S570

After doing some research I decided to return the BDP-S270 and exchange it for the more popular model BDP-S570

I decided to upgrade so I'd have the built in wifi, and all the additional features the unit offers. 3D is still a moot point for me, but it will be there when I need it. My main concern for the upgrade is,
1. I wanted to try out wifi to see how it performs in this media :netflix is working great and the player was even able to connect to my airport extreme in the 5 ghz range for 80211N.
2 I'll have the additional media formats and disc types available to me now.
3. the main reason, I was not having a good feeling about not getting much feedback on the other model, so in turn, i was concerned that I might not be able to get alot of support on it.

Anyway this unit seems to work very well.

Last of all, I just want to remind everyone I'm new to blu-ray as a technology so having switched last year i'm learning what's a normal set of features, what's extra etc.

My first player was the panasonic I moved into the bedroom, it's a solid player but it did fall behind a bit in tech, as far as extra content beyond blu-ray playback.
Considering Blu-ray is a sony owned technology I felt it logical to go with a sony player for best support. and panasonic as a secondary seems like those two companies offer the most solid blu-ray support, at least in what i've read.

You will not be disappointed! After a month and a half, I couldn't be happier with it! Be sure and update it if you like Pandora! It was enabled with yesterday's update! That's the last thing I was waiting on!

Now the 570 does EVERYTHING I want it to do!

I'm ahead of ya there, the first thing I did after doing the quick setup on first power on was to update firmware. Just like bringing a computer up to date. Netflix and and pandora and everything else work great! P.s. i will still be able to enjoy 2d movies without issues correct? even after the 3d update in july?

Yep, sony is great with support!
One more thing will the 3d features of the player work with a 2009 panasonic plasma with a pair of glasses or is the TV required to support 3D as well for the whole thing to work. If i can possibly use glasses with the 3d features in the player and my existing TV, I might consider trying 3D if not, no sweat

The TV required should be too 3D compatible ,Panasonic and Sony will release them this summer

Maybe it's just the new player syndrome, but this Sony BDP-S570 seems to have a slightly crisper picture then the Panasonic DMP-BD601k i moved to the bedroom both are excellent players but sony seems to be a bit sharper. It definitely loads quite a bit faster. But with the latest firmware the Panasonic isn't too far behind.

You will need a 3D capable tv in addition to your 3D capable BD player. Your active shutter glasses will be controlled by the tv, so if you get a Panasonic tv, then you will need Panasonic glasses.

Well Here is a question with a medical theme. I have had a history of seizures (mainly as a child and somewhat as a young teenager) currently haven't had anything in years or have needed meds to treat them. I have read and seen statements on shows such as HD Nation that 3D might affect such individuals in a negative way. Would it be safer for me not to even invest in a 3D tv? even If i was able to afford it? (which i can't right now) or is the medical risks tied to 3D technology blown out of proportion ?

Thanks.

Congrats on picking up the S570. Its a great player. I didnt think I was going to but I am gonna get one at the end or middle of June. I love my N460 but the S570 is just too good a Blu ray player to pass up.
