I'm not a big Star wars fan but even I remember Fox's theme sound extending through the lucusfilm logo.

LOL! I love how it's a "customer provided image", which anyone with decent Photoshop skills should be able to make in the blink of an eye.

Yeah if you click the link to see the big picture it actually says DVD on the front! Some tool just scanned the extended cut boxes and put them on HD-DUD cases.

Would LOTR even fit on a 30gb disc without being compressed to hell and sacrificing the audio options?

what i heard was new line was going to release the theatrical versions on dud and the extended editions (with seamless branching) on blu... it was a while back though, who knows if that's true.

... would LotR even fit on a 50 Gb disc without being compressed to hell and sacrificing the audio options? Just curious, because the Extended Editions are 3.5-4 hours long each...

Of course it would be MUCH worse on 30 Gb discs. Probably look about as good as Timecop will be looking hehe.

This might be a great title to introduce the 100GB discs.
Then they can leave HD-DUD in the dust.

LOTR extended edition would force comprimise on HD-DVD. There would be either no room for A. lossless audio B. extras or C. A good encode.

That is something I would like to see for sure!

But, should 100 Gb discs come out I'm sure we'll start hearing about yields again, not to mention how much each disc costs (even though they're really the same thing).

Knowing how much they DUD boys love all their useless extras, they'll probably give it a crappy encode, crappy audio, but hours upon hours of useless extras and behind the scenes clips all on one disc.

But surely, they could use that triple-layer 51GB DUD...
