How many points per rating? Is there a way to see comments people put on your post other than going to each individual post and clicking the green dot in your post? Is there a way to see the comments on other people's posts?

Your reputation level is already 29 . You start a lot of good threads, which provide information about movies/entertainment. The "Reputation" is a good way for good members like yourself to get recognition from the other forum members.

People might have an uprise against stewie.

I know its up there, and I appreciate that some people took the time to give me good Reps but this could turn into an irresponsible circus since some would just give you bad reps just to spite. That is my only issue about it.

Having the ability to disable it would be a plus for me.

Um, at the bottom of the threads there's the "Similar Threads". In the movies section, shouldn't all of those be merged since there's only supposed to be one thread about a movie?

I was on a site that did this e-peen thing over the last 2 years. It does a couple things well, as on some level it does make the poster that wants to earn them have great post production, and it does allow for newer members that may have a low post count appear more prominent with better 'street cred'.

Did I like that system? I saw the merit in it, however the favoritism was very blatant. This site has a more mature audience as well as a much larger user base, so maybe these things won't be an issue. It'll be interesting how everyone thinks of it 2-3 weeks from now after it has had time to settle in.

Change isn't always so bad! I would like to see the location back though.

I agree. It's been the same way for all the boards that I've joined with this system. For an example, look at the ratings for user reviews here, especially with Avatar. Talk about spite There's a lot less drama at blu-ray.com than many other fan sites of this nature (and you know who they are); it's refreshingly nice and casual with lots of info. The mods here are not heavy-handed and the discussions are mostly civil and informative. Unfortunately, the reputation system will cause lots of consternation among the nice folks here, discouraging them from posting or getting involved with conversations that may damage their rep. Once that happens, the whole value of blu-ray.com goes down, degenerating to vendettas and cliques, rather than good-natured ribbing and honest opinion sharing. Once people's feelings are hurt - even long-time contributors - they will post less or not at all. This loss of knowledge and brotherhood will be devastating. But it's all human nature, a part of us just like our desire to eat and procreate. We are deluding ourselves if we think it won't happen here. It will.

I'm only a short-time member here, but I've been in forums of one form or another for over 30 years. I really like the casual atmosphere and the wealth of knowledge about one of my favorite hobbies. Blu-ray.com has become one of the top sites I visit every day. It would be sad if it became a shadow of what it once was
