The 3D version should've been on the original release to begin with. At least the disc would've had both the 2D and 3D versions of the movie like it is on the Coraline Blu-ray. I don't think I'm gonna double dip on the current release of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. That's my opinion right there.

I believe the Coraline blu-ray is just a 3-D version using regular high-def technology, so it can't be compared with something that will be released in 3D blu-ray, which is another format altogether. That is, of course, unless I've gotten terribly confused with the whole 3-D thing, but I have Coraline and tried the 3-D version, on my regular blu-ray player, and it sort of works but not terribly great. |

You are correct. Coraline has the old style of 3D using the Red and Green glasses while the new style is the current technology with glasses and 3D Capable sets.
What I think people wanted is for those older movies which came out on 3D, it should have included the old style version of 3D. Though it probably will not be near as good as the new style. Quote:

except that the "new" both movie version will be a lot more expensive.
why do you think they are doing this? it forces people to pony up. all of the films that were 3D in the theater and that haven't gotten a true 3D bd release will most likely have this happen to them. the prices of the 3D bds are ridiculous because they gotta squeeze all those dollars out of people. the one I saw at my local BB was around $40. this is certainly not a good development for people that have 0 plans to ever go 3D at home. |

I think Sony is doing the right thing and Sony has proven themselves to be the only studio who gives a damn about 3D Blu-Rays success and are the only studio giving Blu-Ray 3D the proper support it needs to take off. Disney, Fox, and Dreamworks have snubbed Blu-Ray 3D in the worst ways possible and have been a huge dissipointment. Last edited by Jimmy Smith; 08-17-2010 at 04:43 AM. |

No it won't. The commentary was only on the DVD copy that came with the 2D Blu-Ray. Only extras that were on the actual Blu-Ray disc were ported over to the 2D/3D release. There is no DVD copy packaged with the 3D version and thus no commentary. I wish Sony had ported over the commentary for the 3D release as well (especially since the disc had 10 gigs of free space) but the 3D enhancement is more then worth the loss of one commentary track.
