Why is it when I approve someones message, either a 1 or a 3 appears beside their score? How do we control what points are given?

I think it is definitely well intended, but I would be surprised if it was not abused in some form or another, and I have to believe like someone else said, that 'policing' abuse of the system is going to be a terrible amount of work for the mods. In addition, is it really that worthwhile? I'd say a vast majority of regular members know who all the 'helpers' are anyways with or without a rating system.

You can only give reps once to a member... have to make other approvals/disapprovals before being allowed to approve the same members posts
