I don't believe in the theory of evolution all that much neither. Because the fact is that the large majority of species that ever existed on Earth are extinct. Why? Because they couldn't evolve and adapt to new changes, or because each species were created as is?

But, consider the that fact that ancient forms of life on this planet (phototrophs and organotrophs) still exist and haven't changed much. Yet from them evolved the large diversity of life. Even if some cataclysmic event should occur in the future and wipes out 100% of all modern life, the ancient lifeforms will likely survive and kick start the evolutionary process all over again. It happened before and it's likely to happen again.
