Hey

Who will buy this? Personally, I absolutely loved it in the cinema and can't wait to own it. It's up there in my Top 5 of 2010 so far.

Whatabout you guys and gals?

Didn't get to see it at the cinema because they're only showing it in obscure places near me, but I've heard great things. From what I've read of the synopsis, it looks like something I'd enjoy - I like a bit of dark comedy. Also one of the actors - I forgot his name - is hilarious. Look up 'Post 9/11 Dance' on YouTube to see him in a similar context.

I will certainly blind buy this when it's a bit cheaper after release.

I saw the film theatrically, and while the film is hilarious in parts, I actually found myself concluding that it was a whole lot sadder than it was funny. Its a great dissection of the way in which radicalism appeals to disillusioned or confused young muslims, and is pretty heart wrenching in parts.

Its definitely a film worth seeing, in fact I'd say it was a film the NEEDED seeing, but I don't think I'll be returning to it anytime soon. Thats not to say it isn't great, its one of the best I've seen this year, but its not the laugh riot that one might expect.

Not quite the level of satire I expect from Chris Morris but good fun nonetheless.

Is there any word as to whether this release is region free or not?

Thanks for any input.

Hello,

Aside from some of the Region A/B titles channeled through the Studio Canal Collection, practically everything Optimum Home Entertainment have put on the market in the last year has been Region-B "locked". I expect this title to be as well.

Gahhhh.

Thanks. I'll try to hold out a sliver of hope this bucks the trend.

Mines shipped from Zavvi.

That digi-packaging looks like it's the dvd version, i hope so anyway.

Yeah, although I found the ratio of comedy:drama pretty much bang on. It was a lot darker than expected, the trailer/build up made it sound like it was a farce but the storylines involving his family especially were darker than expected. Found it excellent overall, and good to see Morris can deliver on the big screen.

In-depth review of the Four Lions DVD and Blu Ray here:

http://www.cookdandbombd.co.uk/forum...?topic=25007.0

If you scroll down the posts, he mentions that the final BluRay packaging is identical to the DVD Digipack. The extras on this look great. Can't wait to pick this up on Friday!

Great! I love fun packaging, so a digipack is welcome! I loved Nathan Barley to bits and the package on that was great, too.

Only problem with Barley is the disc falls out really easily. Other than that, I really liked it too.

Picked this up this morning, so I'll be watching it tonight. I did have a brief look at the disc though, and it's been encoded as 1080p (no 24fps), which is strange as the 3 Optimum trailers which appear before the feature are full 1080/24. Anyway the picture quality looks good enough. Loads of extras too.
Oh, and I can confirm that it's a digipack -identical to the DVD version just smaller.

I am confused by this. Is there something wonky with the encode?

Don't know. May be my player, although it always tells you whether it's 1080 or 1080p/24. Bit strange though.
