I have 11 BDs preordered from them. At least they can feel the power of the Blu base.
Not a good thinking the idea of a boycott.

The only WB releases coming out right now from Warner without lossless audio are ones where the release has been put together for some time and the release is just waiting for a window.

That's why Alexander didn't have lossless, because it was done ages ago.

Warner's new policy is the same as Disney, Fox and Sony when it comes to lossless audio and as such new movies you'll see with 24-bit lossless.

Trust me, they know what they're doing in the audio department now.

I boycott all movies at the Cinema... full stop... nothing to do with the movie companies, it's the cinemas and the people you get in them.

At home with my nice Blu-ray PC I don't have to put up with:-
  • Mobile Phones going off.
  • Crunching.
  • Slurping.
  • Belching.
  • Some bugger kicking the back of my seat.
  • Someone with big hair / hat / Afro sitting in front of me.
  • Listening to someones inane commentary on the film.
  • Having to stand up all the time while someone squashes by to go to the bog.
  • Having to stand up all the time while someone squashes by after coming in late.
  • 1/2 hour of commercials & trailers.
Need I say more, after that some petty gripe about WB not putting a particular soundtrack on a BD pales into insignificance.

WB... we love you!!! come and commit to us

Glad to know I'm not the only one who stays away from the cinema nowadays...the last movie I saw out at the cinema was either 300 or Ghostrider, I can't remember now. What's the point when I can enjoy them more in Blu without all the distractions that you find out in public?

Even if you boycott theatres altogether, IMAX is still worth going to.

Why Boycott? Go out and enjoy the movies you want to see in a theater. Though it will cost you a arm and a leg, going to a theater can still be fun.

Very good point! Can you imagine NOT going to the block buster movies such as Starwars, etc. It makes no difference how big the home theater screen or how good the home theater sound. Its still not the same as the theater experience. Besides, I find that when I watch a movie at home that I did see in the cinema, I take that theater experience with me and it makes the home viewing more dramatic. Just don't buy a bag of popcorn and "small" drink for $10.00. Opening night on T-2 was such a party atmosphere. More fun with the audience and big movie thrills than I had a right to for the 6 bucks I paid at that time. Some movies: yes. I'll wait for the BD, but others... you make the call.

Also, isn't the boycotting everything under the sun around here getting to be just a tad bit old. Sure, Paramount. Understandable, but the slightest little thing and "Ooooooo, Lets boycott!" Feels like I'm back in Jr. High sometimes

Umm, absolutely I can imagine not going. Not for reason of boycotting but for the reason when a blockbuster is released, I would like to be able to enjoy it. For the 20- to 40 bucks being paid I should be able to see the movie without being distracted by rude-ass people talking on their cell phones, or texting on their cell phones and creating a sea of flashing blue lights among the seats, or how about talking/texting other people in the same theater watching the same movie. And that's just the issue of cell phones that has me incensed.

There's people talking, kids being brought into R rated movies and are crying (go figure), folks who are compelled to get up every 10 minutes to get snacks, etc.

I know by saying the following that it is a sure sign that I am getting old but I'll say it anyway: I don't remember people being so rude x amount of years ago and used to enjoy going to the movies.

But if given the choice, I much rather wait for the blockbuster to be released on BD and I can watch on my terms.

My 2 cents....

yeah there is good and bad...it is just the bad seems to piss me off more than others. But if someone I'm dating wants to go, I'll break down. I'll try to convince her to see something that has been out for a whilie in the hope that there will be less people, but then again if she wants to see the newest blockbuster that's out there, well what's a guy gonna do?

I really just wanted to say that is is not so much a boycott for me as much as a choice to lower my BP Guess it turned into a rant.......

I think the cinemas deserve boycotting. They don't expell those who bahave badly and spoil the experience for others. Mind you saying that, they don't exactly foster a good atmosphere themselves.

I mean, they sell Tortilla Chips!!! Not exactly the quietest thing to eat, and thats what you hear from start to finish of the movie. Crunch Crunch Crunch all the way through, and the buggers don't even close their mouth while they are eating, they just shovel away.

Sorry, but going to a movie these days is not a civilised experience.

quite possible, and in that case hddvd is still the limiting factor, so encouraging warner to go blu, by buying lots of discs from them seems to be the right strategy.

Why is it that over half of the posters in this thread have misread it? I looked it over and it was crystal clear what the OP is talking about.

It bears repeating I suppose: It's sarcasm intended to point out that WB is putting a lossless TrueHD track on a box office bomb when many higher profile titles get only Dolby Digital.

Seriously, folks, all this knee-jerk reaction just because someone uses the word "boycott" is saddening. Get your minds off the freaking format war for a moment and read what's on your screens!

dobyblue,

that's the very best news I read in a while. I hope you're right.

I'm sick of how many great movies they 'burned' with the lack of lossless audio.

I still can't forgive them for no lossless on the Ocean's movies at this point of the game. What were they thinking??? (maybe double dip I guess)
