ok guys, quickie question. I'm getting my first projector and thus have to go with a longer length cable than I have had to before. I'm going with Monoprice as usual but was wondering being that I needed a 25 foot cable whether the 24awg was fine or whether I should go with the pro 22awg cables for 25 feet.

I have a projector also so i wanted to buy a high quality 15 mtr cable, the main reason being that access to it once installed would not be easy so i opted for a Chord company 1.3b silver cable,as i feel the real benefits to higher quality cables are on longer runs.

I have a Pioneer Bdp-09fd connected to a Infocus IN82 via it's dedicated Hdmi connection and with the high speed data transmission on.

I'd personally go with the heavier gauge for a 25' run. Based on first-hand reports around here, Monoprice should be just fine at 25'. For a little more piece of mind, you may want to step-up to Blue Jean cables, but there's no need to spend more than that.

If it were me and the wiring was all in-wall, I would run PVC pipes for my long cable runs so that I could easily re-run wires in the future if needed. In doing that, I'd stick with Monoprice, but that's just me.

Question

Okay I got this 40 dollar hdmi cable at boscovs and the first one blacked out and froze on me during movies. I took it back and swapped it for another one(same brand) and it works good so far. I had the first one for 6 months. I have the new one for a month so far, do you think it will give me problems again. I know it's not the blu ray player becuase I used the cable on my ps3 and it did the same thing. It would black out. It annoys me. Is it really the cable? 40 dollars don't seem cheap though. Please let me know.

Also the HDMI cable I got is called: Monster Just Hook It up Series 3 ft. I read some reviews and people were complaining about it, I guess I got ripped off. Anyone know of any good hdmi cables that last at least 10 years? Please let me know.

For HDMI cables you should look at http://www.bluejeanscable.com they use the industry standard Belden Bonded-Pair design which performs better than the regular twisted pair that most companies use. They really affordable, they're sort of like the Oppo of the cable world.

Bluejeans/Belden Runs An Unamplified 1080p/60 Digital Video Signal Over 100ft of Connectorized HDMI Cable:

Once you get over 25' lengths, you may want to think about a HDMI Repeater to maintain the signal. But I think you should be OK with the 25' length. I bought a 35' 24AWG HDMI cable and felt more comfortable with the HDMI repeater just in case I notice some issues with the signal down the road.

One other thing, remember that 22 AWG is really thick and not all that flexible, so if you need to do any kind of sharp bends, you may have some trouble.

Enjoy your new projector!

I posted this on another thread and I also think it's suited here too.

I contacted Bluejeans cables about performance in distance runs and if length matters under 15 feet for HDMI and also about HDMI 1.4 cables, the customer rep replied back..

I’ve yet to see this come up in actual practice. On my system at home (Samsung HDTV, BluRay, Yamaha Receiver), I’m using some 3 foot HDMI cables as well as some 15’ long ones (I’ll hook my laptop into the system every once in a while), and I’ve never had an issue. All that is passing through the cable is digital information, much like a USB or Fire Wire cable. It’s only computer instructions – you can pretty much remove the terms “audio” and “video” from the signal, because for all the cable knows it could be an apple pie recipe being transmitted.

As far as the new cables, they should be arriving in a few months as the production of that line has only just entered testing (which is prior to full production).

On a side note – there is no such thing as a “1.4 cable”. The following articles will explain:

As noted in the response from Bluejeans, no one needs to buy new cables for HDMI 1.4 features unless they plan to use ethernet over HDMI. There are really only two types of cables - Standard (category 1) and High Speed (category 2). High Speed cables support the data requirements of 1080p video. That's the only difference.

United Kingdom HDMI Cables

I've heard a lot of good things about the Pro Gold HDMI cable
http://harddrivedvdrecordertech.co.u...-to-hdmi-cable

It's a pretty decent price too.

24awg comes with a jacket that's pretty stiff as far as flexibility behind your system.

I personally would go with a 28AWG @ 6ft.

Yea, I have a couple of the 24 with the net jacket and your right, they are stiff, especially when trying to push back the receiver. Just wanted to be sure that I wouldnt be losing anything with the 28AWG...

I would go with the Bluejeans Series-F2 28 AWG which is designed for shorter runs under 15 feet and quite thin and flexible.
