Default UK People - Question

I am curious why you all can't type any better? I am not being rude, mean or anything. It's just I have friends from the UK and they speak just fine. Granted it's different from our English, but it's fine.

However, UK people seem to have a very hard time typing. Is it laziness or is there some difference in what you say and how you type it? Always seems like you guys are missing words/letters or just plain mixing up your phrases/sentences.

Or is it all that damn tea? Anyone?

Only one that is readily available. There are others, but I am not searching for them It does not bother me at all, I just think it's funny and was curious why it seems almost every Brit does it.

Sadly I don't think it's just us Brits who have problems composing sentences, using punctuation correctly, and spelling. I see it in almost everywhere -- USA, Canada, Britain, EU. Maybe blame it on educational systems that don't really teach these things like they did at one time, people being bone idle that they don't care, or the introduction of text messaging. Don't know really.

I do know that when I came to the US a long time ago and entered middle school here, nobody could understand me. Teachers would just stare at me with this dazed looked in their eyes when I spoke, and other kids thought I was from Mars or something. Eventually I learned how to Americanize my speaking, and now when I go home nobody there can understand me.

Lol, so you are a Brit here in the US (or were)? I used to have trouble understanding sometimes, but after talking to Brits for a while online while I game it is much easier to understand what is being said. Just takes some getting used to. Call me crazy but I like the accent. I wish I could raise some kids over there so they can have it.

EDIT - Oh and yes, it's not just you Brits, it's everywhere. Worse here for the txt kiddies growing up now.

Still here. Been here 32 years now. Every time I think about going home for good, I go back for a visit, step off the plane, get out of the airport, and then that cold air blows up my ass and I quickly decide against it.

I was 12 when my parents move here so I had to come along with them. My mother is British and my dad was American. The company he worked for decided to close the office in the UK and he was offered another position in the US.

I'd love to attribute this perceived lack of grammatical skill to our over indulgence in tea drinking. Sadly we've been colonised by the evil empire known as Starbucks.

Oh and 'colonised' is the correct spelling. Why Americans have developed a penchant for using a 'z' rather than an 's' is puzzling. I suppose you'll inform me that its simply 'EZ'r' to learn.

P.S. See also .....'colour' 'theatre' and 'centre'.

Casting Brad Pitt as the 'mad pikey' was not the cleverest of moves by Ritchie. Even we struggled to cope with his rambling 'Oirish' rants.

Renée Zellweger passed muster on Bridget Jones. However, Johnny Depp's accent in 'From hell' was indeed 'From Hell'

Starbucks - You too huh? Grande Caramel Macchiato! Mmmm.. delicious!

Actually, I am with you on the spellings. I don't like how some words are "Americanis(z)ed. Color is a good example. It should be Colour. There are some obvious others but I can not remember them when I need to.

Wait.. here are most of them - http://www2.gsu.edu/~wwwesl/egw/jones/differences.htm

I agree with the British spellings. They make sense compared to our versions. Sorry fellow Americans
