This is a movie that just literally screams for blu-ray. It looks gorgeous on dvd, and blu would be jaw dropping.

The UK version is Region Free. There has been no announcement for a US version.

Unless bluray.com is wrong, it says 227 minutes for the British BD. That would be the extended, not the theatrical, which was 180 minutes.

The UK Blu-ray from Warner is the theatrical cut only. It looks decent and has lossless audio, but for some reason the soundtrack sounds less powerful than my out of print DTS DVD.

MGM is the distributor in the U.S., but financial difficulties and possible sale are holding back any chance of seeing it soon. The extended cut has been released on BD in Germany.

That stinks. We can get Mall Cop on blu, but not Dances. It is criminal.

Sounds as though the existing Dances With Wolves UK Blu-Ray has potential audio issues not being as dynamic as it should be. I'll be happy to wait for the eventual USA Release - I am sure the wait will be worth it. Academy Award Best Picture winners are almost always given the best treatment possible. Meanwhile, let's wait...
