I haven't checked up on my usual HD DUD hangouts but I know that the DUD-ers are already stating this reflects the in-ability to estimates Wal-Mart sales by Neilsen.

Not that it matters,.. HD DUD is toast.

Funny they had no problems adding them in up for the fake Transformers numbers.

Even if that were true, it doesn't give Blu-Ray an advantage. If Nielsen sucks at guessing the Blu-Ray numbers sold at Walmart, then they suck at guessing the HD DVD numbers as well. It's a moot point that gives them no ground.

If Walmart is all that different from Neilson's, why is the shelf space split in Blu-Ray/HD-DVD the same in the store as the split in the Neilson's? Must be because Walmart feels bad for Blu-Ray right?

Get an HD-DVDer to give a real answer to that question.

They are doing some funky new dud-math that equates to SM in all formats only selling 130k copies. Then factor in the Walmart not reporting, the free HD DVDs that should have been listed as a sale, divided by Rosie O'Donnells bra size, multiplied by the average age of the goat on a farm in Idaho, and then they come up with the figures they think are right. And Michael Mullis now has his tits in a twist over the numbers and how unfair it is that Walmart doesn't report the figures and yada yada yada.

Keep it up guys, the key is to support Warner as we have the biggest chance of swaying them.
this portrayal is diminished b/c blu-ray owners clearly spent some money on sm:3 and the box set. if spider-man wasn't out this week, the numbers would be even more of a discrepency.

"So how much credence can we put in the Nielsens now that Wal-mart has entered the war . . . and seems to be backing HD DVD?"

Can't tell you what I think of that fellas ability to look away from the facts.

It's the same old story folks,

Neilsen numbers still don't favor HD DUD = Can't put faith in those numbers
Blu Ray software still outselling HD DUD = WB only cares about Stand Alone player sales
50GB >30 = Well, yeah but 30 was the right amount anyway until we get 51 at least
1080p>1080i = We have many players that don't support 1080p so actually 1080p=1080i

And it just goes on,.. if it's favor-able to Blu Ray like most things are they will try to downplay it. It's the sad state of affairs for those still trying to cling to the lifeboats of the sinking ship called HD DUD.

Residuals from Die Hard will cause that week to be an easy victory.

Failing, of course, some news that Toshiba has decided to personally send a 100$ check to every HD-DVD supporter to buy them for that week.

Wow. Way to get ground back BD. Looks like the Transformer run has slowed down quite a bit. Next weeks numbers will be huge for BD with the Pixar titles knocking up the numbers.

Just because its cheap, its supposed to perform like the rest, and they want to mass-introduce it with lower quality components doesn't mean its going to work, Toshiba. Just look at Daewoo

lol what a joke that guy is. Yeah, wal-mart "backing" HD DVD by selling off their old stock and stocking more BD in their stores. Please.

And BTW, i saw that walmart commercial again....but it wasnt the same...same lady, same footage of her husband and kids, only for a sony flat panel HD TV. That HD DVD commercial had nothing to do with Wal-Mart backing the format, it was simply a generic commercial shot with muliple products to sell it that weekend.

That guy is out of touch, imo.
